Die Stube is a German restaurant and bar as a part of Stube Group that has several outlets in Jakarta with different names. The one that we visited is Die Stube, located in Kemang. From the outside, it may look like an old and simple building, but once we step inside, the ambiance is entirely different. They have a bar, an outdoor area, and a restaurant area. We sat in the restaurant area that looks calm with the dominated wooden colors, paintings, and decorations that depicts Germany. The place is comfortable with a good service.
They provide various foods and drinks, from appetizers, homemade sausages, snacks, beef, chicken, fish, pork, steak, and desserts, to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Let's see what we tried!
Roasted Pork Knuckle (IDR 500,000) This menu requires 3 hours of preparation, so we have to book in advance for it. I ordered it while making the reservation for dinner here. They told us that if we cancel the order for the roasted pork knuckle less than 24 hours in advance, we'll still be fully charged for it.
For this menu, we could choose two side dishes. Actually, we wanted to have creamy spinach as a side dish, but unfortunately, it wasn't available at that time, so we finally chose bacon beans and rösti (potato patty). It was a good choice because both were delicious! The beans were fresh, twisted with the bacon, while the rösti was big, crispy, and not oily! Loved it ❤️
The roasted pork knuckle will definitely make everyone drool 🤤. It's so soft, and the skin is crispy. It's best for sharing. Recommended and worth a try!
Grilled Pork Sausage with Roast Potatoes & Sauerkraut (IDR 160,000) There are some varieties of German sausages. The staff recommends this grilled pork sausage (Bratwurst) to us. I think this is the biggest sausage I've ever had! This big and thick pork sausage is full of meat, served with roast potatoes and sauerkraut (German-style pickles that are made with fermented cabbage).
For the alcoholic drinks, they provide so many choices, including the liquor. We had their German beer. We could say that the beer's price here isn't as high as in the usual restaurant. My brother recommends Konig Ludwig. It's so good and a perfect companion...
Read moren an attempt to get out hands on their pork knuckle, we finally decided to dine here on a sunday night. Situated in a rather old office building in kemang area, this place is safe to say a hidden germany gem for me. The front facade looked quite bavarian with old lamps, warm lighting and wooden window, not to mention the antique wooden door in front. I really appreciate the laidback atmosphere inside, there was also a separation between the smoking area that tends to exudes the bar style, as well as the diner-like non smoking area which fit for tonights dinner with my friends. Okay, let's get to the main star here, the pork knuckle. We had it with rosti and creamy spinach as side. Boy oh boy, I was impressed with all of them. Spinach was soft that it took not much of an effort to chew, let alone the indulgent creamyness. Rosti was nice, normally I found this kind of dish as a pan fried potato pancake, but the one i had at Die Stube was crispier, more like semi deep- fried potato pancake that I like. Then, the pork knuckle itself, tasty with crispy skin and just the right mixture of juiciness of the meat and crispiness of the skin. So dare I say that the knuckle was balanced, it was more on the dry side with not much of oily fat which is my favorite. Service was okay, it wasn't super nice, but at the same time not bad. Just okay. Pricewise, considering their target market, was reasonable enough considering one portion of the knuckle could feed us four. Sure thing this will be the place for when i fancy someplace casual and a bit...
