As a flood damage claims assessor, I came to Kemang specifically for the legendary banjir. Studied 14 years of historical Kemang flood pattern data before arrival. Had my specialized water-level measuring stick ready. Even bought special water-resistant pants at Mark's Work Wearhouse clearance (27% off).

PLOT TWIST: No flooding whatsoever. Did you know Kemang had its driest February since 1998? I've started a spreadsheet tracking Jakarta rainfall anomalies just to make sense of this.

After walking the suspiciously dry streets for 4 hours, I stumbled upon Ganesha Ek Sanskriti. Initially stopped just to ask about historical flood marks on their building (staff seemed confused by my detailed questions about water damage to their foundation).

Decided to stay for dinner and WOW. The chicken tikka masala surpasses anything at Vij's in Vancouver. I've taken meticulous notes on the sauce-to-chicken ratio (approximately 3.2:1) and identified at least 7 distinct spices through taste analysis. The naan passed my structural integrity test - no drooping when held horizontally for 47 seconds.

But the real surprise? A POOL TABLE! Not in my pre-trip research notes about this establishment. Played three games with the manager while explaining the unique weather patterns of British Columbia. Pretty sure I taught him some trick shots he'd never seen.

Pro tips: Ask for extra raita The mango lassi contains exactly the right yogurt-to-mango ratio (I've documented this) Staff knows nothing about historical flood levels (disappointing)

Edit: I've started cross-referencing Kemang flood data with Indian restaurant quality metrics. Currently at 18 data points but need more research. I may need to come back during rainy season for...

I returned to this "sanctuary" after a year. I still feel the warm atmosphere, classic ambience, and the well preserved quality of the food and beverages.

As always, I ordered their gighly recommended menu - though all the dishes on their menu are best for me - the legendary pani poori, rogan josh, vegan biryani, the bread platter (for I will eat everything that they may serve), and for this visit I added Bhel Poori. The sweet and fresh chutney in Bhel Poori, complements the creamy rogan josh and the savoury vegan biryani (oh you definitely should try Bhel Poori, you'll love it, satisfaction guaranteed!)

Last year, I openly complaints and conveyed my disappointment about the service and the waitres's lack of product knowledge. It would be bad pretension for the reputation of the established restaurant, like Ganesha Ek Sanskriti (the waitress and waitresses are your absolute representation as well as your manager or public relations). Graciously, the management responded and promised to start the training for the waiter and waitresses to grading up their level of product knowledge.

And yes they actually did it. They proved that the training happened perfectly. So todayz when I decided to went back there, I feel a lot of good progression and changes, especially on how they served the customers and their product knowledge - I honestly feel it from how they can perfectly explained in details of the ingredients and the way to cook over the food we asked about.

I really do feel happy and contented. So, Shukriya Ganesha's Teams to make it happen. What a...

I went here last week with my coworkers after an exhausting day of demo and presentations. It was very quiet when we came. In fact, were were the only patron.

We have an Indian in our group, and even he admitted the food there was really good. I definitely enjoyed everything we ordered (lamb curry, veggie curry, some spicy appetizers, chicken tandoori).

The decoration was quite unique for an Indian restaurant. A few of the tables have giant chess tables on them. One of my coworkers played a bit with the waiter while waiting for our food. At the back there's a pool table and a bar. Quite fancy and I can imagine it could be pretty busy here during weekend.

Food cost was quite expensive for Indonesian standard, but that's quite expected for this kind of restaurant in Kemang area. The ambience is also good to bring dates or a...

Its a hidden treasure of Indian cuisine in South Jakarta. You can get into the restaurant by parking your car near hooters and enter the door beside hooters and go up using elevator to 2nd floor. I ordered chicken tandoori and paneer. Its delicious. But the spices is somehow too hot for me. But its good. The paneer has a texture to it and little cheesy taste. The portion is so big, you can share 1 platter for group of 3-4 people :)

Great ambience, good food. Ordered the Paneer Makhni, Haryali Kebab, Samosa, and Garlic Naan. Samosa skin was a bit too thick for my taste but everything else was lovely, especially the paneer and mint chutney. Edit: the best thing about this place was definitely the SERVICE. They really make the customers feel welcome. Other restaurants should take note.
