Great architecture and interior design, but food selection was limited, overpriced, and service was rushed.
The restaurant has seating cycles (1st seating 17:30-19:30, 2nd seating 19:30-21:30, etc.)
Food selection was limited. Around 6 fish selections for sashimi/sushi, and around 4-5 selections for each of the other sections of the menu (apart from drinks. They have an extensive drink menu). They are also relatively overpriced compared to other Japanese restaurants in Jakarta for the amount of food and quality of food that they served.
I ordered the shime saba sushi (2pcs) and maguro sushi (2pcs). Both the rice portion and fish cuts were small. For my main dish, I ordered the karaage tamagotoji don. The karaage was nicely marinated with a slight japanese-curry flavor. The eggs, onions, and dashi-based soup were a good balance for the karaage. However, the amount of karaage on my rice didn’t justify its 150k IDR price point at all.
Also, they had almost no empathy for our friends who came all the way from Bogor and arrived at 7pm. I know that we were not completely out of blame, but at the same time one female waitstaff seemed annoyed and told us straightforwardly that our friends couldn’t order anything since it was past last-order time. I guess she was upholding the standard operating procedure, but imagine being our friends driving from Bogor from a weekend work day through an unforeseen car accident in the Jagorawi toll road all the way to a restaurant (which normatively should provide food + service) and not even being helped at all by this waitstaff.
Luckily, a male waitstaff then took control in servicing our party and he was much more helpful, which we also reciprocated with gratitude, apology, and eating the rest of the food as fast as we could + taking out anything we couldn’t finish.
Great if you’re seeking to experience Japanese architecture and vibe (or if you FOMOed out of all those photogenic instagram posts made outside the exterior of this restaurant), but not the best if you’re seeking for Japanese food with a great...
Read morePreviously came and had lunch over, the place is pretty easy to be found which is located in Sudirman Suites, Sudirman area, right at the back of the building you can easily spotted a japanese style architecture, very unique one. It can be a good spot for photoshoot even from the front of the restaurant. For parking, we preferred vallet (30k) as it is more convenient. It was weekdays at lunchtime, i can’t wait to have lunch already. They open 11.30-15.30 for lunch, 18.00-22.00 for dinner. We were being seated at the 2nd floor which is divided into semi outdoor and indoor of private tatami dining room. 1st floor also had some dining area. They have great japan style interior, i am pretty much in love and took a lot of pictures! ❤️ For foods, we ordered Chicken Nanban, Maguro Sashimi, Salmon Dashi Chazuke. Our Favorites are the Chicken Nanban and Maguro Sashimi. Chicken Nanban, i heard it is one of the recommended menu. The chicken was deep fried and tartar sauce was given on top all along. It was very juicy and i totally love it! Their Maguro Sashimi (basically fresh uncooked tuna) was very fresh, with no smell at all! They gave 5 slices of which i found very thick and big! Super recommended! Salmon Dashi Chazuke, basically plain rice with thin sliced of salmon with some poured dashi soup. They offer two variants for Dashi Chazuke, either with salmon or umeboshi (sour plum). I prefer salmon! All of the menus above are pretty large in size, i mean you can share it for two people each and definitely worth it in terms of quality and taste 👍🏻 Overall we summed up that we had a pleasant experience over dining at Furusato Izakaya, this place is definitely worth a try if you are around Sudirman area looking for some japanese food to eat. I am going to bring my family over next time.

Read moreTried this rather popular Japanese restaurant on a Sunday for late lunch. Arrived at around 1.20pm and there were a few private rooms occupied but not the regular dining area. And got seated in one of the private rooms on the 2nd floor. The room was spacious but it’s kind of warm & they provided with a fan inside the room. For the food, ordered the Beef Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu, Hamburg Steak, Salmon Chazuke, Yakimeshi, Ebi Kakiage, Chicken Nanban, Tori Paitan Ramen, Maguro Katsu, & Kabocha Dango. Not all are pictured in the photos. To start with, that day, I don’t if there was a fluke in the kitchen or not enough staffs, but the service was so slow. The gyoza & agedashi tofu came after 20-25 minutes. Then came the hamburg & chazuke. After another 15 minutes, then came the ramen and chicken nanban. As for the yakimeshi & kaki age, the total wait time was 1 hour. And still need to wait longer for the Maguro Katsu. Also have to cancelled the dango, because it didn’t came after 25 minutes of ordering. The dishes that came tasted ok. But unfortunately not for the yakimeshi & kaki age. The yakimeshi was so bland and has a musty taste, and it was so smokey. The kakiage was covered in batter which again was tasteless and the veggies & shrimp were also unseasoned. Even the dipping sauce didn’t help much because it was just salty, unlike the usual tempura dipping sauce. Another thing that was shocking, I went there as a party of 5. And they only provided 4 pairs of the regular/reusable chopsticks & the other one was given a disposable chopstick. During a time when it wasn’t even crowded, it’s weird that even the cutleries are not enough. Was this a fluke or a...
