Huang Ji Huang — Restaurant in Jakarta

Huang Ji Huang in Jakarta is a Chinese hot pot brand originally from mainland China. The flavor is quite similar to what you’d find in China, which is a plus. However, the pricing is unusually high — around 750,000 IDR per meal, which is roughly 400 RMB. That’s even more expensive than many locations in mainland China.

The restaurant seems to cater mainly to wealthy local Chinese or businesspeople. For most locals, the price is not practical, and overall the value for money is low. The food quality does not justify the high cost, and the dining environment is quite average given the pricing.

the food was amazing, i didn’t have problem with it. i’m thinking about eating at huang ji huang again just not in this one because i felt a bit uncomfortable with the employees especially the male one, i could feel they were intentionally walking past our table several times just to look at us or something. i could sense that the way i dress was quite revealing (mind you it was just a tanktop and the chest was a bit lower so this is the reason) but even so, why’d u make your customer uncomfortable? we just want to eat. before that i could hear one of the female employee standing by the glass door saying “watch your eyes” or something in indonesian to the male just before he walked past by our table then they were all giggling and smiling as if it was funny. and then another one did it again while the female employee was preparing our food on the table. instead of telling him off, she was giggling quite loudly as if she supported this weird behavior when he...

Simmer hot pot is not very easy to find in jakarta and fortunately, this one is great! The ingredients are fresh and the hygiene excellent. The recommended sauce is Mala level 1, that way the pot will taste slightly sweet from the base sauce and slighty spicy from the mala, without the usual numbness.

The combination pot is intended for 3 - 4 persons but if you come alone, you can easily takeaway whatever you can't finish there and the takeaway will still taste good the next day as long as you keep it in refrigerator and reheat it...
