Update: 2. They have changed their menu and add many varieties. Almost all of them are yummy. Don't worry, the old all time faves are still available. I forgot the new menu's name that I tried, but I attached the pics here.
Their latest menu; Chicken Namban, is very delicious. Try to visit before lunchtime on weekdays to get this menu, as it is very popular and sold out fast. And I just tried their Tori Dango Nabe, it was really tasty and I love how chewy yet crispy the dango taste. It was so unique and I don't find this one anywhere else.
One of the Japanese food chain that we love. They make authentic Japanese food, that's why you'll find a lot of Japanese people eating here. We've tried almost every food that they have, at many of their different locations, too. And I can safely say that all of their food are freshly made, carefully served, and taste real yummy.
I love this branch more than others because they have the most complete menu here, including my fave Futomaki, and the crowds here are mostly working people, less kids shouting and running around unless on weekends. The place is more spacious, serene and comfortable as well.
Price was affordable and was wort value of the money, equal to the quality of the food, especially remembering how fresh they are. Service was fast, people were friendly and helpful, place was clean and tidy. Of course, be aware of their peak and closing time to get the best service.
Definitely will...
Read moreUpon stepping into Ootoya Pacific Place, I found myself immersed in an authentically Japanese dining experience, marking my inaugural visit to one of Ootoya's franchises. From the meticulously crafted menu to the presentation of dishes on the table, the essence of Japan permeated every aspect.
Opting for a table for two, my companion and I indulged in the Sukiyaki Nabe, a communal hot pot brimming with tender slices of beef, vibrant vegetables, and tofu. The balance of flavors was impeccable, striking a harmonious chord between sweetness and saltiness. Each element, from the perfectly cooked vegetables to the succulent beef, melded seamlessly, delighting the palate.
Complementing our meal were sets of Teriyaki Salmon with Gohan Set, featuring warm Japanese rice, Miso Soup, and the velvety Chawanmushi, along with the unexpectedly delightful Sumitori Jyu. This simple yet remarkable dish showcased charcoal-grilled marinated chicken atop a bed of warm Japanese rice, layered with seaweed. The grilled chicken exuded a tantalizing aroma, devoid of excessive sauce, allowing the purity of flavors to shine through, embodying the essence of Japanese cuisine.
Reflecting on my experience, Ootoya emerges as a haven for those longing for an authentic taste of Japan, a sentiment that will undoubtedly draw me back whenever nostalgia for Japanese...

Sukiyaki was overly sweet and left an uncomfortable after taste. Miso soup passed the minimum bar, tbh you get better result making your own miso soup using Hikari brand. Chawanmushi was splendid but the size was for baby snack. Unagi sushi - thinly sliced unagi left you wanting more while the dessert was simply just a failure. For the price, taste, and portion, goodness gracious please spend your money somewhere else. Don't get me started on the service, one of the female staff weren't so keen in cleaning our table I had to keep asking. Tell me how to enjoy dessert when the table was full of dirty tableware.
The place was considerably warm during a late lunch hour thanks to the bright light. Couldn't feel any air-conditioning. Yeah, what a shame for a much loved...
