Rumah Makan Padang Sederhana — Restaurant in Jakarta

You can never go wrong eating at Restoran Sederhana. Me and my family have been eating at KL branch for quite a long time. It's our go to nasi padang always. So, it's only fitting to try it when we visited Jakarta and stayed at Ascott Jakarta. It's very nearby walking distance between the two places. The only difference between the Malaysian branch and in Jakarta is how they serve the dishes. Jakarta will automatically put all the dishes on the table and you choose which to eat. Whereas the Malaysian branch, you have to order the food at the counter first and then they will bring it to you. Jakarta's branch is much more efficient a bit so that we can choose and eat immediately. But the taste are still the same, very delicious, it doesn't change. This place will always be in our hearts when we want to eat rice with dishes.

The only small complain I have is the payment method. I only wish they have the card terminal working so that we can use credit or debit card because sometimes cash can be low or we don't carry cash. We cannot use their qr code because we don't have any local bank account in Indonesia. So hopefully the next time they would have the card terminal working properly yeah. 👌 Still highly recommended place to eat...

Was here based on the recommendations of friends and the supir. Quoting our supir, the food here is mantap.

And mantap it was. The moment we stepped in, we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile asking us for how many pax.

After we were seated, the rice and dishes were immediately served. Not very familiar with the dishes, I asked what they were and the one attending to us, patiently explained the dishes to us.

Despite eating quite a fair bit of dishes our total bill came to less than IDR700k for 4pax.

We enjoyed it so much, we returned the next day, and also bought some rendang to take back home to KL.

PS: They don't accept card at the moment, but bank transfer is possible and there's a money changer at Thamrin City if you are short of cash. We ate here simply because it was the closest option to our accommodation—and honestly, it turned out to be a good call. This Nasi Padang restaurant may look simple, but it delivers where it counts: consistent taste and a good variety of dishes.

Yes, the price is a bit on the higher side, but hey, when your taste buds are happy, your wallet will understand... eventually.

It's also clearly a hotspot for Malaysian tourists. We probably gave the locals a good show—Malaysians facing a table full of dishes, eyes wide, unsure where to start... and then trying to eat everything. I swear some of the Indonesian diners were more entertained by us than their food.
