Yen Signature — Restaurant in Jakarta

I read rave reviews about Yen Signature and was joyed to experience the restaurant. I opted for the Yen Omakase 11-course meal for my last meal of the year. The staff kindly informed me of each dish and how to complement the dishes with different salts and sauces. The Hokkaido scallop and Wagyu tenderloin dishes stood out the most. I was buzzing with excitement at this point. The food was presented with precision and care.

Unfortunately there was an unexpected turn of event when the final course arrived. I was served dessert with a dirty fork. I brought this to the server’s attention and she apologized and brought me a new fork. I did not complain and waited to see what would be done as a result of receiving dirty silverware. I finished my dessert and was brought the bill without any compensation offered other than an apology. At this point I was perplexed that a Michelin Guide restaurant would not offer more than a sorry with the amount an 11-course meal cost. I brought this to the attention of the server when she asked how my dinner was.

I was offered a secondary piece of Wagyu beef as compensation by another gentleman. I did not want to complain, but wanted an experience that valued the price of the meal. Food (4.5/5) They serve you with a high quality meat. But to me personally, i am more into the japanese wagyu meat. I ordered for the Oyster Cut and Tenderloin A5 japanese wagyu and it is really great. They will grill your choices right in front of you, and offer you with a level of recommendations according to the meat you pick

Service (4.5/5) One thing i like to highlight about this, is more about the griller. Because for me, this one is really important. Because it will determine weather your meat going to be ruined or perfect. And their griller is doing a great job. Server and waitress are also doing their job really great

Atmosphere (4.5/5) The decorations also great, it is spacious enough, and still comfortable to converse with your partner or colleagues while dine in this restaurant.

But somehow, i came here because i saw in the advert that they also provide 'Hida Beef'. Unfortunately when i came, it is unavailable at that moment. For the price wise, it is reasonable since it is located in south jakarta.

Came here for the first time, I was given the menu, I asked the waiter what’s their best meat and recommendation. She didn’t really answer me. She asked what kind of meat I like, told her “I dont like meat that’s too marbled and fatty”. And she still said nothing when I ordered the YEN SIGNATURE PLATTER + Japanese Wagyu Flap meat + wagyu ox tongue.

Wagyu ox tongue was good. The platter was not up to par, at all. First meat was too thin, second one very fatty, third one was way too chewy and burnt, last one, I puked it out because it was too fatty. The flap meat, was too salty too.

One of the wooden spoon smelled like soap as well.

Way too overpriced for what I got for my dinner. Really...
