I’m giving this place 4 stars, despite my dislike of the burger, but more on that later.
The atmosphere is cool. Relaxing. Lots of westerners from all over.
There’s lots of space inside and out to sit.
As with most places in Bali, I’m not a huge fan of the service.
You have to call for a waiter to get a menu. You have to find the waiter to order. If you need anything, you have to find a waiter. Then to get a bill, once again... you have to call for a waiter.
I won’t give a low rating for that service, because it seems to be the standard all across the board throughout Bali.
I just wish they’d improve it.
As for my meal. It was 105k for a beef burger.
It had a whole bunch of stuff thrown together, beetroot, cucumber, lettuce, fried onion, bacon and cheese.
Personally I wouldn’t order the burger again.
That’s not to say you wouldn’t enjoy it, I’m a bit of a burger snob.
What I didn’t like about it, the bun.
When you walk into a store and you’re looking for the cheapest buns for your backyard bbq, you grab these ones.
They’re white bread and no flavour.
Actually their lack of flavour takes away from the burger. Like putting tofu into a meal.
They also used some spices in the patty. So much so that the patty was orange.
You couldn’t actually taste the natural flavour of the meat.
Which leads me to believe it is either flavourless or tastes bad.
A good natural flavour of a beef patty is delicious.
Think of a burger like the national anthem, it’s a good song, sing it the way it’s supposed to be sung and don’t f___k with it too much.
It seems like the ‘creative’ behind the burger wanted to have this amazing burger, but you can see and taste that try hard effort.
What I did like was the cheese, a good cheese on the burger.
Also the bacon was excellent. It was a nice flavour.
If the burger didn’t have the bacon, I probably wouldn’t have finished it though.
The bacon should accent the burger, not carry the burgers lifeless body over the finish line.
The reason for the fours stars, is because I believe this place has lots of potential.
Like I said, I’m a burger snob.
So I won’t put down a place simply because of my own snobbyness.
I do want to come back for breakfast and more coffeee.
This time around I had an iced coffee which...
Read moreI had breakfast on two different mornings. The first experience was very positive: friendly staff, quick service, a cozy and well-managed place, and carefully prepared dishes.
Unfortunately, the second visit was less pleasant due to an episode with one of the waiters. While serving water at my fiancé, my simple gesture (just to make room for the tray) was misunderstood, and the waiter made repeated jokes about “ladies first”. While the principle itself is fine, the way it was expressed and emphasized created unnecessary embarrassment, especially considering the café’s atmosphere and higher-than-average prices in the area. The waiter made the same joke even at the end of our breakfast in front of other people at the desk.
Aside from this episode, the rest of the staff were kind and attentive, the food quality was excellent, and the café itself is airy and beautifully designed.
However, for a place that positions itself as premium, I would expect consistently professional and respectful service.
That being said, everything...
Read moreBukit Cafe in Uluwatu is a gem! The atmosphere is super chill, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some amazing food. I went there three times during my trip—once for breakfast, once for lunch and once for dinner —and all visits were excellent.
For breakfast, I had a mango smoothie bowl and a smoothie, which were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I needed to start my day nice and healthily. When I came back for lunch on another day, I tried the beef burger, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on, and the portion size was just right. When I came back in for dinner I had the pulled pork burger that was incredible.
If you’re there in the evening, you’re in for a treat because they have live music. The vibe gets even better with great tunes complementing the already fantastic ambiance.
Overall, Bukit Cafe is a must-visit if you’re in Uluwatu. Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or just to soak up the atmosphere with some live music and a drink, you won’t be...
