The first Subway to finally open in Bali, basically the same as in Jakarta. There used to be a few in Jakarta (and I believe in Bali as well) many years ago but they did not survive back then in a country where the staple food is rice. This is now popular for millenials and younger people where they have travelled abroad and taste the same Subway sandwich and also for tourists. The options in Indonesia are halal ones so there are no pork related options. Price is relatively high but I assume it lines up with the quality, service, and hygiene. Indoor and outdoor seating is a bit limited but can always bring it to beach side and enjoy it while watching the beach or sunset. How to order: Pick your bread, they have different textures, crunchiness and softness and base taste where the savoury parts will be placed. This is like a pallette of a painting Choose the kind of savoury that you think will entoce your taste but, for a mouthfull there's marinara meatball option or turkey club for the lean option in addition to the standard ham, salami, chicken. This is like the main object on your painting Choose the veggies that you want in your sub (sandwich). Standard ones are lettuce, onion, cucumber/tomato. Olive and jalapeño are only for certain people, if you've never had it then the odds are you probably won't like it. This will be like the things that complement your object in the painting, like the chair in the café terrace or the wall in the house Choose your dressing, my standard choice is honey mustard. Salt and pepper is optional. This will be like the finishing touch to the painting, the lighting that shades the face on a painting Choose to make it a meal or just add drink to your sub Pick a...
Read moreIt's a small shop for subway with only a couple of tables to share to eat in. I love subway. It offers healthy food but the meat looks over processed. I guess so they can keep the flavor of their sandwiches universal. I wish there were more subways in Bali and Indonesia. This location is so inconvenient. It's located on the outside of discovery mall. A good spot for foot traffic but hard to identify if your walking by. There's a lot of possible distractions. If your living here and want subway food as I find I do then you have to go to discovery mall and enter the parking garage and pay that fee to park then get out of the vehicle and walk into the mall then go the whole length of the mall to get your food. Then go all the way back to your vehicle. Then drive home. I prefer to eat at home. Very inconvenient which makes me return only rarely because of this ordeal. The food is as expected from subway, it's the same universal flavor, so no difference in quality from this location only the difficulty to get to the store. Service can be slow because I never see the same staff, so they're always learning how to make the food. Don't...
Read moreDisgusting! Worst Subway I have ever had. The roast chicken was not roast at all - not even a little grilled beforehand! Just white, barely cooked. Yuck. The cheese used was cheap orange American "Kraft" slices. My husband had the steak and cheese one, and the reality was a lot different than the picture - weird unidentified cubes (?) of meat (???). Honestly, I'm not sure I want to know what it was. The prices were steep and the combo only included way-too-sweet iced tea without the cookie or bag of chips like in Canada. I understand that it's a chain and imported but it's a SANDWICH guys. How expensive can it be. 130k rupiah for a meal that left us both slightly nauseous and doubtful about the nature of the food we just had... Also, the service was chaotic, as the staff was stepping on each other's toes, and the shop was cramped to the point of making one claustrophobic. I'm sorry, I tried, but this was not a good experience at all. Very...
