When visiting this restaurant with the hope of having a wonderful experience in Bali, I encountered an unexpected shock. Please taste a different side of Bali here.
Firstly, regarding the food, honestly, it was an issue beyond just "delicious or not." I ordered a crab at a fairly high price (350k RP./piece), but what was served had almost no meat and seemed rotten. After trying 2-3 bites, the taste and smell were so unpleasant that it was inedible. It was clear that the crab had died and been refrozen. Eating it would definitely cause food poisoning. After checking other reviews, it seems some people actually experienced food poisoning.
Next, regarding the owner's attitude, I felt there was a lack of common decency. When I called the staff and explained the situation, requesting a replacement, they said, "We are calling the owner," and after a while, someone who seemed to be the owner appeared. He said, as if accustomed to it, "I understand what you're saying. We do not offer refunds or replacements. If you want fresh ones, only those swimming in the sea are available. It doesn't say fresh on the menu, does it? We serve what is ordered according to the menu, so pay up. If I go to your country, it would be the same." In Japan, serving rotten food is unthinkable, and an apology should come first.
We only asked for something edible, but we were treated as if we were being unreasonable. I've traveled to various places around the world, but this is the first time I've encountered an owner who belittles customers. I love everything about Bali, but if this person is Balinese, it's truly a disgrace to Bali.
Please be cautious when visiting...
Read moreWhile it's still light out, The Champlung's crowd level pales in comparison to it's neighbour on the right. However, its main draw is really the live band, which starts playing just slightly before sunset.
I loved their tunes - acoustic renditions of modern pop songs - & this was the reason why I decided to come here... Despite telling myself I need to cut down on drinking, & despite the sun having already set.
All I wanted to do was chill with beer in hand, listening to good tunes. & I got that with my Bintang Radler (40K IDR nett) slightly cheaper than their next door neighbour's. It is served in a beer koozy, which keeps your beer colder for longer. I like!
The band plays 3 sets per night - in between, the lounge remix music is pretty in line with their chillax vibes. I sat next to the speakers on the left & it wasn't blaringly loud.
If you had only one choice, come here. You'll have a good time ☺
☀ Al fresco seats available - I mean, you're here for the beanbags, right? There are some sheltered seats, but ain't nobody got time fo' dat 📶 Free WiFi available - but it wasn't working when I was there.. Apparently because I was too far away 🙋 No service charge 🚫 No...
