Expat. Roasters Beachwalk — Restaurant in Kuta

I love Expat Coffee, but today’s situation brought me to tears out of frustration. I went to the mall after confirming with Beachwalk management in advance that dogs were allowed. In none of the stores — not even in the nearby restaurants — did anyone say anything about my dog (for the record, I have a small toy poodle).

I waited in line at Expat for about 10–15 minutes. One of the staff walked past me at least three times, clearly saw the dog, and even acknowledged it. But when I got to the counter to place my order — I was refused service, even though I just wanted to get a coffee to go.

So apparently, according to the staff, it’s fine to wait in line inside for 15 minutes with a dog, but not okay to place an order and wait three more minutes for takeaway?

I completely understand if dogs are not allowed — usually there are clear signs or staff politely inform you at the entrance. But in this case, it just...

Nice small coffee shop run by employees who know what they are doing.

You can ask anything about the menu and they can explain well what it is and how it is made.

The coffee is not that cheap for Indonesian standards . Mine was around 45k and with decaf and oat milk options need to add around 10k IDR. My hubby got ice coffee jelly (ice coffee latte with brown sugar and coffee jelly) at around 45k as well.

Total cost was around 120k IDR with tax etc (12SGD similar to Singapore coffee price)

Ambience was nice, just a normal mall ambience. Not too noisy which was nice. There are some outdoor seats.

They have decaf option, which I could not get while in Ubud earlier today.

They also sell some coffee beans and coffee making equipments.

Went to buy iced coffee and asking for barista recommendations, he told me to order caramel latte which only added IDR 5000,- extra. The coffee itself is 35k (6oz) so the total would be 40k excl tax n service (T&S). Surprisingly the final payment was 57k . Almost 50% for the t&s. I re-asked the barista that the coffee should be 40k excl the T&S and he said YES ITS 40k exclude the T&S. When the receipt came out it turned the coffee itself was 50k exclude T&S. Now it does make sense I probably got 12oz without even been asked. I even saw similar issue about it in the review section. I think you should do something about it.
