I rarely give bad reviews, but one of the staff (or maybe even the manager/supervisor) was very rude. He's the one wearing a long-sleeved shirt in the photo.
I was sitting inside near the door, and the singer or musician of the restaurant was smoking outside at a table right by the door. The staff kept the door open and were just standing by the door so the cigarette smoke was going inside. Secondhand smoke kills! I also have health problems so this is the reason why we chose to sit inside versus outside where smoking is permitted.
I complained to a server about the smoke and requested to close the door. She relayed this to the staff standing by the door. The employee wearing a long-sleeved shirt then looked at me annoyingly then slammed the door really hard. I thought maybe it was just an accident. BUT HE SLAMMED THE DOOR AGAIN when it was left open the second time and I complained a again. The other servers closed the door normally and gently the other times it was left open.
This really ruined a nice dinner for us. In the first place why even hire a singer who smokes? That just ruins his voice 🤦♀️ and why are the servers keeping the door open when the outside is a...
Read moreI came here for a late lunch after seeing the good reviews and consulting their menu, where the Bebek goreng (fried duck) was a staple dish. The views from the rooftop are stunning and the restaurant is in of the best locations within the Beachwalk shopping center. The service is friendly and forthcoming. The restaurant is a bit hard to find though but it’s definitely worth the extra effort. The food was great. I ordered the duck (bebek goreng 🦆) and pork skewers. The duck was the star of the show but the skewers didn’t disappoint either. The bebek comes with a nice set of garnishes, sambals and dips, which add freshness to the savoriness and richness of the bird. Notably, this duck is smaller than what you get when ordering half a roast duck in Germany or in a Chinese restaurant for that matter. However, it is seasoned differently, with more character and refinement, while still retaining the crispness of the skin and slight gaminess of the meat. The portion sizes are ok, maybe a tiny bit on the small side but the prices are appropriate for what you get (actually pretty fair given the location...
Read moreMr. Wayan by the Sea is an amazing spot to enjoy both local and western cuisine with a stunning beachfront view. Located right by the ocean, it’s the perfect place to dine while soaking in the sunset — and yes, we were lucky enough to be there right at sunset. The view was absolutely breathtaking and made the whole experience even more memorable.
The food was solid. The nasi goreng was a standout — flavorful, aromatic, and cooked to perfection. A great pick if you're going for something local. The salmon curry rice and fish and chips were decent — not particularly outstanding, but satisfying enough.
One notable highlight of the meal was the Matcha Colada — a creative and absolutely delicious drink. Smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, it was hands down one of the best drinks of the evening.
With its chill beachfront atmosphere, good mix of food options, and unbeatable sunset view, Mr. Wayan by the Sea is definitely worth a visit when you’re in the area.
Overall Rating: 4.3/5 Great for sunset dining, with excellent nasi goreng and an unforgettable...
