Sendok Emas Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Kuta

I arrived at the hotel quite late in the night from the airport. As the hotel kitchen had closed for the night, I decided to go for a stroll outside the hotel in search of a restaurant that was still open. Passed a few cafes/restaurants along Jl.Werkudara and then came across this place. Being on the side of the road and with an open frontage, it's quite easy to guage the mood of the place. There were quite a lot of people inside and the the music was lively. There are waiting staff at the entrance to the restaurant trying to get you to go in and once inside I was shown to a table. The live show was quite impressive and they had a lot of the customers actively participating in the singing and dancing. Families occupying the tables seemed to be enjoying the place. I asked for the 'Beef Rendang' to be prepared with some extra🌶🌶🌶 but when it was served, it was quite disappointing. Wasn't up to the mark and neither was it spicy. The beer however was cold. If I could give 10 🌟 I would. We LOVED this place. All I wanted to do was see a drag show in Bali and the atmosphere here was unreal! The show that was on before and after the drag show was brilliant, the performers sung their hearts out and my kids absolutely loved watching them sing and dance. The performers were super respectful of kids in the audience and nothing was too over the top as far as context or dancing. They got everyone up singing and dancing and my shy daughter who won't even ask the shop people where something is got up on stage with one of the dancers and sung and dance, that's how beautiful and kind they were. The food was great too and they have awesome happy hour deals too. We wish we'd gone earlier in the holiday so we could have gone back before we left. We spent 5hrs here having the time of our lives. As a regular in Bali it is with disappointment that I write this review because most places I have been serve delicious food. Tonight at Sendok Emas I had the worst meal I have had in Bali. I chose the nasi because it's one of my favorites and it's always been great. It was very plain with little flavor and the chicken satays were pink. I didn't want to fuss but when they asked are your meals good I replied with no the chicken is pink under cooked. So they offered to replace it and I agreed. Well... the next round still had blood in it. My daughter is a lover of chicken satay and she too could not eat it. Again pink and the rice was sticky and cold.
