Bad service. Rats running on the floor of the restaurant. Below average food. I'm never left a 1 star review before but this was a horrible experience.
We ordered drinks, which took a long time for what was then pretty average drinks. Our food took 90 minutes to come out, we had to ask 5 times where it was, 3 of those times the waiter retook our order as it had obviously been lost. When we said we had had enough and wanted to cancel the food, at that same moment the food came out. It was very average, I had the octopus which was chewy and cold. When we complained and said we thought there should be some sort of compensation, the waiter said to me "well you need to stop eating then" and then quickly took my plate of food away. We had my meal comped because I had taken about 3 bites of it before it was whisked away. On top of everything that went wrong, the worst was the way the waiters dealt with it all. As a people pleaser myself, I am always calm and nice in these situations so it's not like I was getting angry, but they were SO rude and borderline getting aggressive.
Also, as if all that wasn't bad enough, there were rats running along the floor multiple times through the evening.
Do not go here, the area has so many nice places, you're wasting time and money...

But - We had a bottle of Mumm Champagne and I asked if we could get an ice bucket, I explained in return we would eat and drink and make a day and night of it at Sokube, far outweighing the $20AUD 'corkage' they wanted. I explained its a very special day for us, it had been 31 years since our honeymoon here and it was the first time we stayed at Kartika since 1994. And they do not sell Mumm Champagne, which costs over $300AUD at the Plaza, would look good for them. Anyway, they wouldn't budge on the $20AUD for us just to drink it there, so we left. 🤷♂️ Sokube lost about 2 million IRP from us at that sitting alone, and we chose to eat the best steaks elsewhere that night. No problems for us, they are not the only place here and are pretty pricey anyway. I said this to the managers at the time, but no manager cared, barely even looked up which is strange in Bali. Wait staff were superb 5 stars, but the managers didn't show good business sense and lost the place 2 stars. Would have cost them nothing to make several million, seems a no brainer. We still spent over 4 million IRP on our last day, just not...

Sorry, Sokube, Im not ordering 5 beers so they can sit out in the sun and get piss warm. After I finished my beer, out of curiosity, I waited to see how long it would take someone, anyone, to come see if I needed anything else. This is AFTER I told them I planned on eating there. No menu, no service. I watched 2 young ladies come in, sit down and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, the one lady stood up waving her arms. When the server finally went to their table, she took my empty beer and never asked if I would care for anything else. I was not being difficult. There was nobody there to be difficult with. There were only about 15-20 people in Sokube at the time and that INCLUDES employees. I think this is the first negative review Ive ever written. But this experience made a lasting impression on me. Way overpriced to be treated like THAT. Didn't affect me as I left after one beer. But, this restaurant owes everybody that stayed and paid those prices for that service a huge...
