This place had started off as a five star and then went downhill.
I would like to start off by saying the staff are very attentive and did not have a single quibble about them. They were all very professional and friendly.
However, the food did not live up to what I would have expected from an establishment like this.
I had ordered the yellow fin tuna which was nice. However, too much oil and capers on top, which masked the flavour!
I then ordered the brick chicken, it had come out and I don't normally send food back, NEVER!!! Honestly check my other reviews. It was tasteless and dry, it tasted like they had it under the hot plate!
So I ordered the red snapper as there was literally nothing else on the menu for me to have. It was nice, but again way to many capers! When the second meal finally arrived, the side of broccoli I had ordered had gone cold! Also, the broccoli which they said was charred, tasted burnt.
The bill then came and I saw that they charged for the more expensive meal. I would have expected that they would have charged me the chicken price. It wasn't my fault that they cooked the chicken wrong.
I wouldn't recommend this place. For the price I expect the food to be much better! It was average at best, but for the price below average.
Shame as I normally give restaurants 5 stars always! Please click and check if you...
Read moreEdit: I went back for dinner and I can now say that something is off in this restaurant. It's surely NOT a proper Italian restaurant. The baked gnocchi were served in a mini-ramequin containing maybe 5 gnocchi. The consistency was wrong, mushy. The mixed salad was seasoned with lots of white vinegar (!): in proper Italian restaurants salads are never seasoned and the client is given a set with high quality extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar. The steak was tough, the crushed baby potatoes were only oily skin and the tiramisu was horrible! Too sweet, almost no mascarpone cream, only lady fingers soaked in weak coffee and sugar. This is NOT a true Italian restaurant! As an Italian, I strongly recommend to go somewhere else. There are at least two excellent Italian restaurants downtown. Cherry on the top: dinner here gave me indigestion. A very expensive indigestion. Never again!!

Read morePopped in for dinner at around 8pm on a Sunday night and it was relatively quiet. Lovely relaxed open plan venue. Only qualm was that the down lights were far too bright and glared like spotlights on some tables which took away from the romantic/moody ambience.
They served complimentary focaccia and olive oil / balsamic which was a great start. We ordered the arancini balls (with braised beef short rib ragu) which were excellent - served very quickly and tasted fresh/warm and the outer was nice and crispy. For mains, we had the salsiccia pizza (pork and fennel sausage) and bucatini ragu (braised beef short rib again). Both were fantastic but the pizza was a standout! I’m not usually impressed by pizza but others’ review pics of the funghi pizza is what initially attracted me to visit Uma Cucina. My partner and I agreed it was the best pizza we’ve had in a while - base was perfectly thin with the right amount of fluff and crisp. Flavour was also great and unique (sausage is apparently house made).
Didn’t have alcohol but tried the green tea mojito which was...
