This is a WORLD CLASS restaurant and seriously deserves a Michelin Star!!! The mouthwatering food and the story of this restaurant will not only leave an impression on you, it will inspire your life. We ate here for 3/10 days of our honeymoon and wish I had eaten here everyday.
You can't go wrong with any dish here. TRY THEM ALL!!! The menu has over 80+ dishes, drinks, and desserts - all individually crafted authentically and cooked with the most amazing spices. We were honored to try over 20+ dishes over the course of 3 days and we loved every single one of them. For spicy lovers, you can order an assortment of extra spicy sauces on the side!
Aside from the restaurant, they also offer cooking classes, pick your own vegetables from the farm that they cook to order, and many places to enjoy your meal. We tried everything and enjoyed each experience so much!
We tried over 20+ restaurants in 10 days and this was by far THE BEST and we can't wait to go back one day. Sadly many other restaurants tone down authentic Indonesian food for tourists. At WPK, they draw inspiration from different cultures in Indonesia and honor it deliciously.
Thank you so much to Ms. Margie, the owner, and all the staff members. They are so incredibly kind, talented and passionate about authentic Balinese and Indonesia cuisine, culture and sustainability. You honestly can't help but feel inspired leaving here.
Not only is the food absolutely incredible, the vision of the Owner and Ms Margie food consultant is incredible. They operate a completely self sustaining restaurant with a farm, restaurant, ducks, cafe, and more. The owner is also an antique Indonesian art collector and many of the artwork is displayed all across the restaurant, and one of the managers designed the architecture of the entire farm + restaurant. There's no other place like this...

Bottom line first: nice garden in the back, good food, probably still a must-see in any Ubud visit, but on a steady and steep downhill slope for four years. Waiting time 45 minutes and up.
So the prices have doubled, the menu got shrunk down, many changes are hard to understand.
With a small sized Cappuccino at around 50.000 net you are above European prices.
This used to be the place for Indonesian food in good quality. So for example you got jaja batu bedil for dessert, which you couldn't get anywhere else, and they made it better than the old ladies on the market. Now they cut that out and you are left with fried banana that you can get in the freezer section of supermarkets anywhere in the world. Why????
The staff is the same and they are good people, but they have gotten weird! I think they got some very strict training and now they can't behave normally any more. Service is way worse now. Why????
Also the waiting has gotten absurd, often 45 minutes at lunch, let alone dinner. We already left twice without eating because we didn't have the time to wait any longer.
So I'm extremely disappointed with this place. We've been coming here for four years and nothing has improved. Lots has deteriorated.
But the garden is still there, food quality is still good and the same CD is still playing (which is incredibly annoying after about your third visit).
So for us that means we still bring newcomers there to see it once but we don't go there...
Read moreWhat an amazing evening. We were staying at Shamballa Moon and last minute felt like going out but not into Ubud and this Warung popped up in our search. We had driven past several times and thought it looked good so WhatsApp messaged them to see if they had any tables. They indicated we were welcome. We turned up and were told we could choose any where so we sat out the front not knowing there is an area at the back; we ordered drinks then amessage arrived asking if we were still coming as they had reserved a table for us at the back. We were shown to a very beautiful table overlooking a gorgeous garden (garden at front is gorgeous too) lights glowing and twinkling. Very very special. Our food was impeccable and extremely tasty. We loved that the menu indicated where in Indonesia recipes originated from. We ordered dessert and were sent a delicious coconut cake dessert with compliments from the kitchen 🥰. So we decided to cancel the Mud cake ordered but kept the pandan crepe order and shared both. Highly recommend Warung Pulau to anyone looking for a location to celebrate a special occasion. The staff were wonderful and welcoming. We really appreciate the hospitality and the hard work going on behind the scenes. Thank you to the whole team for making a last minute celebration of a 40th anniversary into something to be remembered for...
