Tony's is like a treasure in Cork but it has been living on an out of date reputation for a long time that has no bearing on the current state of affairs. There was virtually nothing on the menu for less than €10, most of it was €12! What happened to a simple mini breakfast? The menu was printed on a dark redish background that was hard to read at times. The bacon was overcooked to the point of being burnt but more importantly was very poor quality. The sausages were small and again poor quality. If you put a tiny ramekin of relish on a plate of terrible food it doesn't make it fancy or better! It's still terrible food! €35 for three breakfast is a monumental rip off for what we got. To put some context on it; The following day I had a mini breakfast in East Cork for €7.90. Two days later I had breakfast in Dublin for €9! Both included coffee and both provided far better quality of food! It is beyond me how Tony's is still scoring high on reviews because I remember what it used to be like in here and it was good. Now, it is...
Read moreTonys bistro is my all time favourite place to eat in cork city. I have been going there for almost 11 years. The menu hasnt changed and it doesnt need to. The all day breakfast options have something for everyine, every combination you can think of. The oriental express curry on the lunch menu is amazing. My 10 year old son loves going here, theres colouring offered to every child( even though hes not that interested in that anymore) and i recently had another baby and ive been there twice with him ive been congratulated and welcomed as much as always, space for buggy was available, highchairs arw available, the staff are so friendly and welcoming its like going to a friends house for lunch. Sometimes you could be waiting for a table only because its so popular and its worth the wait, plus as the person eatiing there already you never ever feel rushed to finish up because theres people waiting. It is very...
Read moreWe came here after our "first pick" was closed and MAN am i glad we did. The Bistro has a "mafia" theme, as in all the dishes are named after famous mafiosi from movies and other fiction. I've had one of the two vegetarian options and it was really really good. The avocado was fresh and worked super well with the poached egg and sauce hollandaise. But the bread! Thick slabs of toasted sourdough that were literally a high of my day (being from Germany I was starting to miss good bread with toast being the only thing around at most spots). Just for that it would be worth it coming here, everything else is the very big cherry on top. Definit...
