My husband and I were going to have a Christmas drink this afternoon in Dunphy's and we had our daughter with us in her buggy. The pub was very quiet with lots of space, but the bartender refused to let us bring in our buggy, claiming no space. I pointed out to him that there was clearly lots of space, but his response was simply "Well, that's our policy". I would completely understand if the pub was crowded or if it was late in the day and not suitable for a child, but this was sheer rudeness for the sake of rudeness.
