Dunphys — Restaurant in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

My husband and I were going to have a Christmas drink this afternoon in Dunphy's and we had our daughter with us in her buggy. The pub was very quiet with lots of space, but the bartender refused to let us bring in our buggy, claiming no space. I pointed out to him that there was clearly lots of space, but his response was simply "Well, that's our policy". I would completely understand if the pub was crowded or if it was late in the day and not suitable for a child, but this was sheer rudeness for the sake of rudeness. Dunphy's is an old school proper pub that has a sofa'd lounge in the front and booths in the rear with a true gentleman behind the divided and jumping bar on weekends. Food and drinks are good and the service is authentic. Two small tables out the side entrance along the sidewalk for plenty of people-watching opportunities. Warm and welcoming interior. Visiting Dunlaoire and Dunphys looked like an authentic Irish pub. Unfortunately the welcome did not match. A young tall ginger slapped a sloppy, overflowing, unsettled Guinness on the counter and said that’ll be 6.80 and when I muttered, would you not let it settle he retorted, “do you want it or not”,I replied no and I don’t like your attitude (well I don’t like yours ether, he said !) and I left.
