I visited this cafe on a Thursday with 5 others. The host, and I'm presuming owner, was very attentive and helpful and put 2 tables together for us as the place isn't that big. There was a nice choice of food on the menu and we all ordered together. 3 out of 6 ordered seabass and chips, 2 ordered burgers and chips, and I ordered soup and chips. The seabass came out, then the burgers and chips came out, and then there was a long wait for the rest. I was last to get all my meal. The host seemed under pressure, not because it was busy, but it seemed he had to do all the work apart from cooking. The chefs being slow added to his pressure. I felt sorry for him as he was trying his best, and the food was nice apart from going cold with the wait. The place itself was a bit run down, the toilets were not the best at all and only had one toilet for women and one for men. There are steps to the toilet so not ideal for wheelchair users. There was seating outside and seating out the back. The menu prices were reasonable but I would not be in...
Read moreThis little gem, with its own outdoor dining area, is a bit of a secret treasure. The owners are welcoming, hospitable and genuine. I particularly love the chicken & pasta dish, but their coffee is great, their French fries delicious, the desserts are 'melt in your mouth ' delicious and their daily specials are always worth tasting. It has a bistro kind of feel but I love that the chef comes over, has a chat, gets to know his customers and always takes the time to thank them for coming in. If you just fancy a coffee or a brief rest from trawling the charity shops of Dunlaoghaire, or if you want to sit in the sun, then make this one of your homes from home. BTW, there's a spacious upstairs seating area where you can have some privacy, look at the diners downstairs or out into the garden. The service can be a little sporadic but everything's freshly prepared, so its worth it. This remains one of my favourite spots in...
Read moreWent in here and sat down. Ordered food. The staff were friendly. However when we sat I noticed our "disposable" table clothe was absolutely filthy. Like it had been used several times. It was like when a white wall starts to go black from grubbyness and need of a wash. The cutlery was sitting in this dirty covering. I noticed all the tables had unchanged dirty disposable paper coverings. The more we sat and looked around the dirty floor became apparent. And a general uncleaned feeling. Then my niece picked up cutlery to find the napkin and table cloth underneath both had blood on them. We immediately cancelled our order and left. If the dining area for customers is so dirty what must the unseen kitchen have been like. I felt like I was in an episode of Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares. Shame. Why have disgusting dirty covers. Why not just have the plan table tops. Easy to wipe and clean. Disposable means change after...
