I had one of the worst dining experiences today in GFP DunLaoghaire. I am a frequent customer and I have always loved the breakfast menu however my experience today has put me off returning again. Firstly we waited 25 minutes to get our orders taken despite there being a sufficient level of staff (I had to ask a waitress if we could order). I ordered the steak sambo (without the egg, steak well done) and when it arrived I was in shock. One piece of plain bread with a steak on top, a side of a "Chipotle" condiment and the smallest amount of onions (mostly crumbs and 4 small pieces of crispy onions - I have photos). I asked a member of staff if there had been a mistake as there were so few onions on the plate. She returned a few minutes later with a plate of (differently cooked!!!) onions stating that originally the full portion of onions were not ready and that the chefs apologize, which I'm sure you can agree is not good enough. I then began cutting into my steak only to find it was bright pink on the inside despite my request to have it cooked well done and I was unable to continue eating. When a male member of senior staff came to collect our plates I told him that I could not eat the meal as the steak was not cooked as per my request. He persisted to lift up my plate and examine the steak before turning to me and stating "but there is no blood in the middle". I was a bit taken aback by his lack of professionalism but explained again that this was not a well done steak, again he repeated "but there is no blood in the middle". At this stage I just wanted to leave the restaurant. The member of staff stated that he would "go and check" with the chefs about the steak...I'm unsure what he had to check with them about but I waited until he returned. In the end the meal was (rightly) taken off the bill. I will not be returning to Gourmet Food Parlour. The service was slow, the food was extremely poor and the senior staff member was rude and unprofessional. I am very dissapointed as I have only ever had pleasent experiences here for breakfast and it is a popular place in DunLaoghaire. I would strongly warn people about...
Read moreVery disappointing. Not sure what's happened to this restaurant , it used to be nice and well run. Was about 5pm Sunday not busy ,stood at the door about five minutes or so with staff walking past and ignoring us, had to stop one of them and ask if we could be seated to which he replied one minute let me check. Ordered food and drinks a burger, and whiskey sour, and the tortilla special with the hop house. wait staff were really friendly once we were seated but service was slow, we sat outside with our dog they offered a bowl of water to our dog which arrived instantly, yet we were not offered any water sat there waiting for our drinks one of which we could see sitting on a counter inside for about 15-20 mins had to catch a member of the wait staff's eye and ask about drinks was told to wait another few minutes. food arrived with no cutlery neither the burger was dry and neither it nor tortilla were hot, then our drinks then arrived whiskey sour was incredibly watery, and not just from the melted ice in it the beer was the wrong beer and despite that it appeared on the bill with the extra charge for the beer they had served ,had planned coffee and desert too but was so disappointed we went elsewhere. The price difference for the incorrect beer was refunded but we still had to pay 5 euro for it despite it not actually being fully . After years of enjoying gourmet food parlour I definitely won't...
Read moreWe have eaten here, and the previous location, many times. This time, the first, we had a voucher. Included was a glass of prosecco each. The problem is I just do not drink prosecco as it is far too acidic for me and causes me bad acid. I asked could we swap for red wine? No. We were informed that the management have told the staff.... no swaps. This is just so, so customer unfriendly. We, of course, offered to pay the extra for any overcost. We actually left the 2 glasses of prosecco and the restaurant lost out on the other glasses of wine we would have bought. So....a meal with no wine! Have you really given up on real genuine customer care??
The good... the young lady and young man were really lovely, friendly and helpful. I do think they were embarrassed at this. The food was actually very good. My burger was among the better ones (cooked well done, as per the ridiculous rule from health authorities). Well dressed and tasty meat served in the correct brioche bun. Suggestions; the v good calamari were wrongly served in the oil from the fried peppers, onion and garlic. The oil must be drained! The chicken wings could be offered spicy as a choice.
There is absolutely no logic as to your refusing to swap one wine...
