I normally get food from this restaurant with my brother, have never had a problem until my last experience.

Myself and a friend said we would get a sushi platter to take away, we planned on parking up in front of the pier as it would be a nice experience…….

We asked what was on it and we were told it would be a “chefs selection, we couldn’t request anything”

We picked up the platter on a Friday evening roughly 7pm, which was an assortment mainly of nigiri, raw fish and some random pieces of sushi.

When we were eating the platter we both agreed the fish was a little suspect but having spent €55 on the small platter, we didn’t want to waste it. As we both eat sushi from loads of places including Sushida, we trusted that what we were given was safe.

That night I ended up getting sick for 12 hours straight spending most of my time in the bathroom.

I then politely called the restaurant on the Sunday explaining what had happened and was told to send an email which I did getting a response.

I called the restaurant another 2 times leaving my contact details on both occasions explaining what had happened. I stressed all I wanted was a refund and that I won’t leave a review as that would be way more costly and damaging. I appreciate that we are human and that sometimes things can go wrong.

I proceeded to then end up having to go to the doctor as I had an awful stomach infection the following week, resulting in uncontrollable bowl movements which cost me another €100 for the doctors fee and prescription.

I told the manager of the restaurant that I had food poisoning and it didn’t seem to phase him, nor did he seem to believe me. I gave ample time and effort in allowing them to come back to me and resolve this issue but I got nothing. Not even an apology and refund which is all I wanted.

Due too the disrespect and lack of communication from their end it left me with no choice.

I just finished my prescription today and thankfully my stomach is slowly coming back to normal.

I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. The way this has been handled is nothing short of a disgrace!

I didn’t want to do this but I said to myself I would give them 3 chances and that I did. Extremely disappointed and disgusted I will never ever dine in any of their restaurants again. Avoid Avoid...

Miso soup way too salty, saltiest I ever had, very dense and almost red in colour, probably they put too much miso paste or dashi. Upon complaining, they replaced it with an identical one (?) saying they now ran out of miso soup. Don’t understand why they couldn’t just dilute it with hot water!?

Unagi cucumber roll wasn’t good either - overcooked rice, falling apart. Mostly cucumber on the filling, way too little eel.

Won’t recommend. Left hungry and annoyed. Waste of money. Should have gotten some sushi from the supermarket nearby and an instant packet of miso, would have tasted better. Had to drink about a half liter of water afterwards because of the extreme saltiness of the miso. Also, the waitress suddenly brought the bill some 20 minutes before the closing time(?)

Not sure how they got such a high rating. Way better options in city centre or in nearby Blackrock. Typical Chinese restaurant pretending to be Japanese. Please improve and learn proper Japanese cooking. It used to be a much better place when it opened some four years ago (was one of the first customers), and I’ve been a regular visitor years ago when I lived in Dun Laoghaore, very disappointed now. I’ve eaten at literally hundreds of Japanese restaurants all around the world and this experience was one of the worst in terms of food and service in my...

Atmosphere & Location: Located in Dún Laoghaire, this branch of Sushida offers a cozy and modern Japanese dining experience. While it's a bit outside the city centre, it’s a great spot if you're in the area or exploring the coast.

Menu & Food Quality: We ordered the Sushida Sushi Platter, which included a balanced variety of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour—soft textures and great taste in every bite. To complement the meal, we had a bottle of sake, which really elevated the experience. For dessert, we tried the matcha tiramisu—smooth, subtly sweet, and perfectly infused with matcha. Another creamy dessert (name forgotten) was also delightful. To finish, we had green tea (made with loose leaves, not a teabag—lovely touch!) and an Americano.

Service: Service was efficient and friendly. The staff were helpful and contributed to a pleasant dining experience.

Pricing & Value: Good value for the freshness and quality, especially considering the thoughtful touches like loose-leaf tea and dessert presentation.

Accessibility: Easily accessible in Dún Laoghaire, especially for locals and visitors in the area.

Overall Experience: A delicious, authentic sushi experience with great dessert and drink options. Definitely worth a visit—and I’d...

My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant today. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of. The customer service was exceptional — attentive without ever being intrusive, and every detail was handled with such warmth and professionalism. The team went above and beyond to explain the dishes, offer recommendations, and ensure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It really made the whole dining experience feel special and personal. The food itself was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of authentic flavors, but what stood out the most was the outstanding hospitality. It’s rare to find a place where the service enhances the food so perfectly. Highly recommended — not just for the quality of the food, but for the unforgettable care and kindness of the staff.

I have a very mixed opinion of this place. The decor is amazing, the atmosphere is great, but the place is extremely noisy, so it kind of kills the atmosphere. Service is reasonably fast and kind. We went specifically for karaage and takoyaki to check them out. The karaage is somewhat like the original, but the tempura is not quite like it, also does not come with a sauce. Portion size is good. On the other hand, the takoyaki is very underwhelming. The balls are extremely small and they only have around a small cube of octopus inside. They taste good, but again, it is not worth it unfortunately because of the small size and lack of main ingredients. We did not feel that we would stay for mains. At a later stage we might give this another go to see if they improve. Or we might try their sushi too. Hope this helps to get better.
