Where to start when everything was so lovely? Our server thoughtfully suggested, without being asked, a table in a quieter part of the restaurant away from some larger groups of families with happy noisy children. All the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly but also left us to chat without checking in too repeatedly or rushing us.
The menu is extremely diverse for a pizza restaurant with lots of great options for vegetarians which I really appreciate. I got the Roman style base which is bigger and very thin and crisp. I chose the one with vegan jackfruit pepperoni but chose to have it with regular dairy cheese. No exaggeration this was probably the best pizza I've ever had, including at the top authentic Italian pizzerias in my hometown of Montreal where we have a huge Italian population with very high standards! The base was unbelievably delicious and truly good enough to eat on its own which is the mark of authentic thin crust pizza. It's not just a big edible plate to load down with toppings - it's actually the star of the show. The vegan pepperoni was so good I questioned for a minute whether it was real pepperoni, and they must use quality cheese because it was super tasty without being greasy.
Everyone else loved their food as well, including my cousin who is Celiac and got the gluten-free pizza. We really appreciate it how clear the menu was with regards to gluten-free items including a warning that they must come on a certain type of plate, and if they don't to ask your server to double check with the kitchen. That kind of diligence is so important when it's a real Celiac issue rather than a dietary preference.
I was sorry we were in a bit of a rush that day as I would have loved to spend more time in the restaurant and maybe try their dessert menu. As it stands I can't wait to come back next time I'm in Dublin and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves pizza, because this will knock your socks off. Great value for money too.
Go for a walk on the East Pier and then treat yourself - nothing like a good meal after a lot of fresh sea air.
Thank you to the whole team for a...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate opportunity to dine at a restaurant in Milano Dunlaoghaire, and I must say that the experience was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we entered, it was evident that the waitstaff lacked proper training and professionalism.
One of the most concerning incidents occurred when we requested to have our leftovers packed. Instead of taking care of this task themselves, the waitress simply handed us empty boxes and left us to fend for ourselves. This level of negligence is simply unacceptable in a dining establishment, and it left us feeling bewildered and frustrated.
To add insult to injury, when we inquired about ordering coffee, the same waitress returned with the dessert menu and carelessly placed it on our already dirty table, cluttered with used plates. It is reasonable to assume that a well-trained staff would prioritize cleanliness and presentation, particularly when it comes to maximizing their profits for the day. Unfortunately, this was not the case here.
As if the lack of attentiveness and disregard for basic hygiene weren't enough, the sight of the waitresses preparing desserts left me astounded. Not a single one of them utilized a spoon or gloves when handling the cakes. Instead, they resorted to using their bare and undoubtedly dirty fingers, subsequently wiping them on their aprons. Such unsanitary practices are not only off-putting but also raise serious concerns about the restaurant's commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction.
Overall, my experience at this restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. The untrained waitstaff, combined with the evident lack of cleanliness and professionalism, left me thoroughly disappointed. It is disheartening to see that there has been no improvement in the service, leading me to give this establishment a negative rating. I have no intention of returning to this restaurant...
Read moreI always enjoy the food when I go here. We went in as we were hungry and hadn't th energy to go home and cook. We had walked to dunlaoghaire and down the pier and around the shop. We went in and sat down, and we were served pretty quickly. The pizza I ordered was delicious as usual. I tend to go for the same thing, a vegan mushroom pizza. The other person ordered a carbonnara pasta, which came out hot and delicious, and it stayed warm. We were both very satisfied with the food. The atmosphere was grand, we were seated at one table but it was too cold so we moved to another which hadn't been cleaned off yet. But we didn't mind. I'd say they were rushed off their feet and short staffed, which can happen. I do think, though, some people might not be impressed I however understand that at certain times, the staff will struggle to maintain the tables if there s a quick turnaround. After all, lunch and dinner are busy times. Anyway it was noisy with kids but I found it entertaining. That's after all the things about milanos are geared towards families. I just watch the kids and smile. They are always happy and entertaining. I did see that one of the staff was very helpful to a woman with four kids, helping cut up the pizza for one of the kids, which was lovely. The staff were great to her and her kids. Which is ony right, focus on those who need the help. We both enjoyed our meal. We paid and we left. It was a great end to our day of shopping. I'd highly recommend milanos as it is a lovely accommodating place, especially for families. And being vegan, I like the fact that it always has an actual menu for us. I do, however, think that maybe the staff should ask before giving you a menu if any of the party is vegan as I always have to ask for the menu, but it's not a...
