I can’t say enough how amazing we felt after staying at this hotel. My new bride and I spent the second night of our honeymoon here after a very disappointing first night at the nearby Shelbourne. Customer service levels are worlds apart and if you are deciding between the two. Take no more time. Stay at the Fitzwilliam!!! One of the first things we noticed about the hotel was the incredible smell. First in the entrance lobby then in our actual room. It was magnificent. The hotel may not be decorated to everyone’s taste but we really loved it. Something a bit different and still incredibly luxurious. Our room was spacious enough and had all the amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel. The room had a small balcony overlooking St Stephens green and views were fantastic. The bathroom was spacious and my only gripe would be that the shower is in the bath and not separate. Having said that though the bathroom was still fantastic. The stars of the show are the staff though and their attention to detail. They simply can’t do enough to help. A special mention must go to Tony who was at the concierge desk. He felt like a long lost uncle and not only was his service exceptional, he was incredibly genuine in wanting to make our stay extra special. When we stayed at the Shelbourne we had to pay €35 for valet parking. The exact same service at the Fitzwilliam cost nothing. There are a few 5 start hotels out there who could learn a thing or two from the Fitzwilliam.

This is a very dated and uncomfortable hotel. The rooms are subpar. The color scheme - mostly unpleasant with terrible rugs and curtains. Almost as if 5 different interior decorators couldn’t agree on anything. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. The breakfast - the worst in a reputed hotel I have had in Dublin. It’s also loud with noises emanating from everywhere. No coffee maker in room / sub par tea pot in room with sub standard tea choice. A TV that looks more like a small computer monitor placed weirdly on table. Couch is ugly, as if someone picked it from the curb. Tiny little shower where my elbows keep hitting the wall. No multi region plug points or USB ports. I had to cover the bottom of enterance door with towel because it was so loud, not that I think it made any difference. My first night last night and I have three more days to spend. I was given a tiny room on check in which looked nothing like the pictures and they charged in an additional €55/night for somewhat better room. Everything looks haphazard in this hotel. Deeply regretting my decision. I have stayed at Merrion, Radisson Blu and The Marker in the past. They are far superior. The only good thing, perhaps the employees who are willing to be helpful, but all their efforts are to vain given the poor condition of the property.

The best thing about this place is that it is situated right in the heart of Dublin so you have many restaurants, shopping, pubs, markets, etc right around the hotel. The hotel itself is decent but there is a Michelin star rated restaurant located inside so it has that going for it. The rooms are small and not that updated but that also gives it some beauty because it's different than most luxury hotels. The rooms have large bathtubs which is also awesome. I'm 6'1, 220lbs and I can basically lay out in the tub. Super awesome. The gym is absolutely terrible but there is equipment to get a decent workout in depending on what you like. Couple cardio machines, a flat bench (just the bench) and some dumbbells. Definitely needs to be updated but there is absolutely no room for it to be 🤷🏾‍♂️. The staff are friendly and will take your bags to the room and also walk you to your room. Besides that, nothing to fantastic about the place besides the location.

The afternoon tea menu is advertised as a gift from the gods .... well the gods must hold a deeply deranged dislike of the fitswilliam hotel customers. Lulled in by the websites blurb I booked for myself and my sisters for our Christmas catch-up. Huge fans of afternoon tea and the usually delicate delicious dainty offerings we partake more often then we should but never ever have we had such a dreadful experience. We had rang ahead to say I was a vegetarian and they said they'd gladly accommodate. When we arrived I again told them I was vegetarian and they said this was fine was I ok with cheese/risotto etc I explained that I was as I am not a vegan. My sisters afternoon tea arrived first on the traditional afternoon tea display platter but instead of three servings of each item on the menu there was 1 or 2. Not wanting to cause a fuss we said we'd say it to the waiter when he returned with mine. A half our later he came out with mine......an enormous bowl of risotto..... has the chef lost his mind on what planet is a bowl of mushroom risotto afternoon tea - which by the way costs 18euro in the bar and I would have had to pay 40. I said no thank you (it was grey and smelled disgusting) so they said theyd be back. Another half hour later they came back with 4 tiny items on a plate for me - 2 tiny trifles, 1 slice of beetroot with a piece of goats cheese the size of 1 cent and a mince pie the size of a 1 euro coin. I called for the manager as there was no way I was paying for this rubbish. He promised to rectify and said I wouldn't have to pay for the risotto- well I hope not since I didn't want/order or eat it - but he said he'd ensure the bill was appropriate. All fine we didn't want to dwell and moved on, in fairness to the manager he did bring out more food for my sisters but they didn't still receive everything advertised on the menu and were a few items short. Although one sister did get a large lump of plastic in her pudding ball (as did the lady on the next table) so maybe they thought that would count. I on the other hand got nothing more..starving at that point the lump of plastic was starting to look quite tasty. And so we asked for the bill to which they in all their benevolent pomp said they'd only charge for 3 afternoon teas instead of four - for three partial afternoon teas and 1 inexplicable tiny vegetarian mess, I told them to try again. They then returned with a bill for 2 afternoon teas which I thusly paid and left the hotel scavenging in my pocket for a free sweet I'd recieved earlier that day in the supermarket to tame the hunger pains. Never ever ever again to return. Save yourself the stress and money and go literally anywhere then this disgraceful hotel, the chefs should be deeply ashamed and google what afternoon tea...

Great hotel. It’s located on St. Stephen’s Green at the end of Grafton Street so it has easy access to many tourist sites and is at the intersection of many public transit lines. ||Our room was spacious and comfortable, and most importantly faced out onto St. Stephen’s Green. The view was very nice. I know that the windows are heavily reinforced and soundproofed so that we did not hear any noise from the passing crowds or any of the passing trolley lines . That said, the windows can be opened just a little bit to let in fresh air. ||Our king size four-poster bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed. The bathroom was fairly large with a separate large tub from the smallish freestanding shower stall. The shower is not exactly a phone booth, but it did feel about that big when you were inside, trying to wash your body or shampoo your hair without banging your elbow into the metal shelf that holds the shampoo, soap and conditioner bottles, or the safety handle embedded in one wall. ||There was lots of closet space and a small amount of drawers for storage. We got by just fine.|The included breakfast was very nice. There was a good buffet of cold foods and you could also order off of the menu for French toast waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and other items. Fresh fruit, yogurt, cheeses, dry cereals and pastries are also available. ||The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Special kudos to Gonzalo at the check-in counter who took the trouble to walk us to our room and help us get settled, with the suitcases arriving moments thereafter; Alikan at the front desk, who is very friendly and who, along with his colleagues, made certain transit and dinner arrangements for us; and especially the very charming André, who manages the morning breakfasts, who never failed to recognize us, acknowledge our presence, and check on our plans for the day.||Only one negative comment comes to mind. The hotel room doors tended to slam shut loudly unless you held onto them and purposefully closed them more quietly. Judging by the number of door slams I heard in the course of each morning and evening, I’d say most people just walked out of or into their rooms without concern and left the door to slam closed on its own. Given that the Hotel has recently gone through some upgrades, you’d think they would have put in some kind of door closing mechanism that would diminish the loud bang of each closing door up and down the hallway. It’s not too late...

This is a nice hotel in an excellent location. But the service and amenities were not five-star quality during my stay. To be clear, the stay was not entirely unpleasant. But we should reasonably expect the most attentive service and the highest quality amenities at a five-star hotel. The Fitzwilliam failed to meet those expectations.

The lobby, bar, breakfast area and rooms are nice in a "they-probably-look-good-in-social-media-photos" kind of way. Actually living in the spaces leaves quite a bit to be desired in terms of service and comfort.

Upon arrival, front desk staff was friendly enough and gave us a welcome drink. The staff member insisted that we leave our bags with the concierge and then escorted us to our room without our bags while assuring us that our bags would be delivered to our room very quickly. After a full day of travel prior to arrival, we needed to get into our bags to freshen up.

As we stepped out of the elevator and into the third floor hallway, we were met with a faint but unpleasant smell of sewage. After waiting 20 minutes in the room for our bags, I had to go back to the lobby and retrieve our bags myself. Not a good start for service and definitely not five-star.

The in-room amenities were not five-star quality in terms of comfort, quality and function. The towels and robes were tired and rough. The recently remodeled bathroom was pretty, but lacked a towel warmer and other small touches such as a place to hang a towel or robe near the shower. The bath accessories were of drug-store quality and not particularly luxurious. The bed was comfortable, but the chairs and love seat in the room were almost painful to sit in. While the furniture was stylish, it lacked luxury, function and comfort.

Breakfast was not quite of the excellent quality one expects at an establishment billed as "five-star." Service was friendly but inattentive. Plates were not cleared from our table, drinks were left unfilled, and condiments were not replenished.

The Fitzwilliam is a decent hotel, but failed to deliver a...
