I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent visit to "Doolally" was deeply unsettling. I have frequented many fine dining establishments, yet the treatment I received here left me in disbelief. From the beginning, the service was unexpectedly hostile. The waiter, "Tiziano.R", displayed an attitude that was unprofessional and, frankly, intimidating. Plates were placed on the table with unnecessary force, there was no eye contact, and he muttered under his breath as he passed by. It felt as though he was projecting his personal frustrations onto us, which is entirely inappropriate in a professional setting. After waiting an unusually long time for our main course, I politely asked Tiziano to check with the kitchen. His response was shockingly aggressive. Instead of addressing the concern constructively, he placed his hand on my husband's shoulder and, in a reprimanding tone, told us to "wait our turn" because the dining room was busy. This gesture and tone were condescending and completely out of line. Throughout the meal, I felt unwelcome and tense—so much so that my heart was racing the entire time. I was unable to finish my meal and opted to have it packed to go, just to leave the uncomfortable environment. The question that lingers in my mind is whether my experience was influenced by the fact that I was the only Asian diner in the restaurant. While I would like to believe this wasn’t the case, the cold and dismissive treatment I received made me wonder if I was out of place in the eyes of the staff. This is not the level of hospitality I expect from a restaurant of this caliber, and I sincerely hope the management addresses the behavior of their staff to ensure no other guests leave feeling as disrespected and unwelcome as I did. Tiziano, you ruined our precious evening. We are a long-distance couple and hadn’t seen each other in a year, making this dinner a meaningful and special occasion for us. Your attitude and behavior turned what should have been a beautiful evening into a deeply disappointing experience. It’s truly disheartening that such a memorable moment was overshadowed by your actions.

Ok... This is gonna be a weird review. Only because I love Indian Food so much and enjoy a dish from punjab at least once a week. I also cook from fresh, my own Chicken Makanwala Murghi. So, at first glance, this place is stunning to the eye. The decor is really cool, calm and modern. The atmosphere is that of a busy Dublin restaurant. Staff are as nice and knowledgeable as can be, and the restaurant layout is fab. Onto the food: Poppadoms: Nice and crispy. The mango dip was just that, but the salsa dip was honestly just tomatoes with chilli. Starters: 10/10 - Wow. Four different starters and four different yet amazing dishes that brought you on a journey of flavour, each one leaving a unique explosion of taste on the palette. All starters are absolutely worth a try. Mains: 3/10 - not wow. Four, different dishes, yet each one tasting as the next. Very bland, lacking substance, such as chilli, salt, and sweetness. Very disappointing with small bits of chicken in the butter chicken. The Tikka Masala is probably the least flavoursome I've ever had. My local Punjabi House takeaway in Drogheda has a better Tikka. Sides: 0/10 - Sweet Naan. I'm lost for words. I've never been with this group of people out for dinner who didn't eat most, if not all, the Naan bread. This was a soggy flavourless Naan and not worth the calories. The cheese Naan was also not up to standard. Thick, flavourless, and soggy. Then the pilau rice. It was very light and fluffy but lacked any flavour. Price: Average at best, but for the quality of the food, no way near worth €23 for some small bits of chicken in a bowl of bland sauce. Service: Was very quick. Good if you're in a hurry. But if you want to have a few drinks in between dishes, then ask the waiter to hold off. Our round table in the corner was also unstable and very rocky. Verdict: I will not be recommending this Indian for its dinners, but I will recommend it for its starters. I would recommend Kajjal in Malahide or Kinara in Clontarf for a complete Indian experience.

I recently dined at Doolally with my girlfriend, and we were both impressed with several aspects of our meal, though there were a couple of notable drawbacks.

The CLUB STYLE FISH FINGERS Calcutta style crumbed fish finger, with kasundi mustard starters were a highlight.

They were fresh, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Flakey fish, The seasoning was spot on, making them a delightful and satisfying beginning to our meal. 5/5 Stars

The chicken tikka starter was delicious! The chicken pieces were tender, marinated, and had a wonderful smoky flavor that added depth to every bite. The seasoning was just right, not too spicy but still flavorful. It was served freshly, which enhanced the overall experience. 4/5 Stars

Where do I begin with the chicken biryani?

It was absolutely outstanding. The rice was perfectly cooked and infused with a rich blend of spices, creating a wonderfully aromatic and flavorful dish. The chicken was tender and juicy, complementing the spices beautifully. My girlfriend, who is very particular about her biryani, was equally impressed and said it reminded her of home. 6 / 5 stars

The Chicken Jalfrezi was vibrant and full of flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy, while the bell peppers and onions added a delightful crunch and freshness to the dish. The sauce was rich and well-spiced, striking a good balance between tangy and spicy without being overwhelming.

However, I felt that the dish could have used a bit more heat to really elevate it to the next level. A touch more chili would have brought out the depth of flavors even more. Despite this minor critique, it was still a delicious and satisfying dish. 4 / 5 stars

The Chicken Jalfrezi is definitely worth trying. It’s a flavorful and well-executed dish that & Is my personal favorite Indian dish,

Additionally, there was an issue with the service. At one point, I asked a waitress to help remove plates from our table as we had finished our starters a few minutes prior, but she never came back. 22 mins before I could get somebody to help. (Timed it on my phone)

This lapse in service was a bit disappointing and detracted from an otherwise pleasant dining experience. There was a male server who couldn’t do enough when asked him to take our plates away, he refilled our waters, our glasses of wine, apologized so much, could not be anymore accommodating.

Despite these shortcomings, Doolally provided a generally enjoyable meal, particularly with the chicken biryani and fish finger starters. I hope they can address the issues that happened with my experience.

We look forward to giving them another try in the future and exploring more...

Doolally, delivers an Indian dining experience that not only meets but far exceeds expectations. From the very first moment I stepped into this inviting space, I was struck by the warmth of the atmosphere, complemented by the incredibly attentive and friendly service. The staff at Doolally made every effort to ensure that we felt not just welcomed but truly at home, which set the stage for what turned out to be an unforgettable meal.

The true star of the evening was undoubtedly the Butter Chicken, a dish that redefined what I thought was possible in terms of flavor and indulgence. The sauce was a velvety masterpiece—rich and creamy without being overly heavy, striking a perfect balance of spices that lingered without overwhelming the palate. The chicken itself was tender and perfectly cooked, absorbing all the complexity of the sauce in each bite. Without a doubt, it was the best Butter Chicken I have ever tasted—its deep, aromatic notes and luxurious texture make it an absolute must-try for anyone visiting Doolally.

However, Doolally’s menu is no one-hit wonder. The Paneer Tikka was another standout—a delightful combination of soft, smoky paneer marinated in a blend of spices, grilled to perfection, and served with a zesty mint chutney. Each bite offered a burst of flavor, making it an ideal companion to the rich mains.

We also sampled their Lamb Rogan Josh, which was a sublime balance of tender lamb cooked in a perfectly spiced, aromatic gravy. The meat practically melted off the bone, and the sauce was so flavorful that I couldn’t resist dipping pieces of naan into it until every drop was gone.

Speaking of naan, the Bownmarrow Naan was the perfect accompaniment to every dish. Light and fluffy, with just the right amount of saltiness and a delicate char, it was the perfect vehicle for mopping up the delicious sauces.

Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable. The staff was not only knowledgeable but genuinely enthusiastic about the food they were serving. They offered thoughtful recommendations, checked in on us just the right amount, and maintained a professional yet friendly attitude throughout the evening. It's clear that the team at Doolally takes great pride in both their food and the overall dining experience they provide.

In conclusion, Doolally in Dublin offers an extraordinary journey through Indian cuisine that should not be missed. Whether you're a connoisseur of Indian food or a newcomer to the flavors of the subcontinent, the dishes here—especially the Butter Chicken—will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Coupled with excellent service, this is a dining experience that I will undoubtedly return to and...

I recently dined at Doolally Indian Restaurant with a group of five friends on a Sunday evening, and I'd like to share my detailed review of the experience.

Arrival and Ambience: We arrived at 7 pm and were warmly welcomed by the reception staff who promptly showed us to our table. The ambience of the restaurant was vibrant and inviting, setting the stage for an enjoyable evening.

Service: However, the initial impression was dampened when our waiter took our orders. Their demeanor was less than ideal, lacking politeness, and their body language came across as rude, which was noticeable to all five of us. Despite this initial setback, we placed our orders with high hopes for the flavors we had heard praised.

Food: The food arrived promptly, and our excitement was palpable. Unfortunately, our dining experience took a hit here. The first server who brought the starter didn't exude positivity, which affected our initial impression.

The saving grace was the final server who served our main course with a brilliant and positive attitude, which we genuinely appreciated.

We had ordered quite a spread, including a tasting starter plate, five main dishes, mango lassis, naan bread, and masala fries. The main dishes included Butter Chicken, Saag Ghost, Bhuna Ghost, Chole Masala, and Bhindi Masala.

Highlights: Regrettably, the only highlights of the meal were the Masala Fries and Mango Lassis. The flavors and quality of the other dishes were rather average and fell short of our expectations.

Price vs. Authenticity: One notable discrepancy was the price point versus the taste and authenticity of the dishes. While some items were in a higher price bracket, their taste and authenticity did not match the premium charged.

Recommendation: In conclusion, our group of five friends left with a sense of disappointment. Despite the pleasant ambience and the positive service we encountered toward the end of our meal, the overall experience was marred by the subpar food quality. We cannot wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to others, given our collective experience.

It is our hope that the restaurant can take this feedback constructively and work toward improving the culinary aspects of the dining experience to match the inviting ambiance...
