My partner and I dined here on the 29/01 on our anniversary. I had such a bad experience I still think about it today.
We were sat beside two extremely intoxicated men who interfered in our meal all night and were extremely rude. The men shouted all over the restaurant yet were served more alcohol at their request. The men even made fun of my partner and I directly on front of us.
A third man joined their tiny table which was directly adjacent ours. The man sat directly beside my partner; so close they were touching thighs. The men were sitting at a tiny two person table with no room for a third, however the staff allowed these men to do whatever they wish; totally inconsiderate of mine and my partners discomfort.
The three men unfortunately got into a disagreement directly on front of us which was extremely uncomfortable. The men were extremely loud and inappropriate. The third man left abruptly.
The two men proceeded to go in and out of the toilet for the next 20 mins and became extremely loud and aggressive.
My partner and I were so uncomfortable we got the bill. The waiter made things worse as we were paying by card and he told us that we had to tip even though we were paying by card.
We always tip by cash and explained to the waiter that we planned on doing this. He insisted that we tip before paying and held onto the 15€ tip as my partner keyed in his credit card.
I never leave reviews but I had such an awful experience here I had to warn...
Read moreWonderful dining experience in this truly authentic Italian restaurant in Ranelgh. The staff were welcoming and friendly, there’s a great buzz about the place and as soon as you walk inside, it feels as though you’re in Italy, with a leg of ham in the window and other delicious antipasti delights on the counter. The chef has the ability to try new things while also capturing the classic tastes and textures of Italian cuisine. The lamb shoulder tagliatelle was off the charts, so much flavour and the fresh pasta was just sublime. We sampled four dishes and dessert, we couldn’t get enough. The wine list is fabulous and the staff had superb recommendations. We asked for a pause at one point to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and they were only too happy to oblige. Everyone in the restaurant was enjpying their meals immensely, so much so that we ended up chatting to our neighbouring table and sharing dessert with them. This restaurant is already one of my favourites and I will be back many times, not only is the food some of the best Italian in the city but the whole experience feels like you’re transported to Rome for the night....
Read moreWe met Giorgio and his wife randomly at a small pub in Belfast. He invited me and my friend to his restaurant in Dublin with open arms. We said we he there the next day which he openly invited us. Well I can say it's an amazing spot! I love family owned places and he and his son were amazing the whole way through. We arrived on a last minute reservation and when we walked in Giorgio literally looked at us and said "Jason I can't believe you made it". His wife has decorated the place perfectly. It's such an intimate spot and the service is impeccable. His son Rudy even visited us multiple times to explain our dinner options and preferences. The meat and cheese plate is one of the best I have ever had and some of the meat the literally bring from their local town which was simply amazing. The waiter was so welcoming and consistently attentive to us and everyone he served. This place is such a hidden gem so if you are ever in Dublin and in the mood for Italian I would say hands down go to Gigi's. It will be an experience you will never forget. And if Rudy or Giorgio asks .. tell them Jason and Lep from America...
