Mak — Restaurant in Dublin

Have been going here over 7 years . Love the restaurant food is always good & service is good to . But unfortunately the service my partner & me received last night was the worst I have ever gotten . We were seated down given the menu but didn't get our order taken for 20mins we were never asked what drink before untill our order was taken & we had to ask for prawn crackers when normally they are just given to you. There was also about 6 waiters on from what I could see. We were seated to the left of the entrance & it seemed like no waiters were assigned sections because even the table next to me had to ask 3 times l for there drinks they had ordered & there bill the same . There reason for 4 stars & not less is because I will still be going here food/service is always good I just wanted to bring it to your attention. It was busy but no reason for poor service I feel if staff were assigned sections it would of been better. We also had asked for our bill & had to wait 15mins as the waitress forgot all about it . Brilliant staff can't make up for poor food. My starter of skewered chicken in Saay/Peanut sauce eas inedible. way overcooked pieces of chicken with congealed gunk poured over. To be fair this was taken off the bill. In contrast my partners shredded duck with pancakes an hosin sauce was was delicious ( Tip: you can order it for 2) Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. I ordered stir fried duck and vedge with plum sauce. What I got was a stew of fatty pieces of duck with vedge immersed in about a half litre of sauce. The boiled rice was OK. My partner had noodles and vedge in soy sauce topped with a duck breast. The problem with this was the noodles we practically non existent. We finisher with coffees and brandys. O dear , O dear. We have eaten here several times and the food is always nice, service good and atmosphere relaxed. As other reviews have mentioned, it is somewhat pricey but to be expected eating nice food in D6. However… you are either. A restaurant charging restaurant prices or a takeaway. We were here last night and the 6+ staff on duty were more occupied with getting takeaway orders out the door, than taking care of the customers paying sit in prices. After main course, we were waiting 20 mins for desert menu + order more drinks. I would strongly recommend that certain staff members are allocated to the restaurant only and pay attention to the tables.
