The customer service was horrible, I booked for three people and we added another person since it wasn't busy. We went there and the lady said to us in a very passive aggressive manner " that we have to call before going because it's really busy " ... even though we were the only people there at the time.
When I wanted to order a spider roll and a California roll the lady taking my order said " are you sure because that's a lot of food, because I wouldn't be able to finish that much " making me feel insecure and decide to only order one. My friend was ordering and she accidentally dropped her chopstick on the floor and was going to pick it up once she finished ordering. The lady taking our order aggressively said " excuse me woman you dropped your chopstick right ?! Can you help me with your chopstick and I'll get you a new one. YOU DROPPED IT RIGHT ?! " she was so rude and really upset us and made us feel uncomfortable and judged.
When we got our food we tried to enjoy it but we were called " women / girl " in a very rude way, the food overall was good but it did fall apart unlike other sushi places I've been to. Which are more firm
After we ate I decided to order some more to bring home, and when I asked the waiter if I could see the menu which he was very nice and got it for me. The lady previously taking our order had a irritated facial expression and asked him what he was doing.
Overall, I feel like I should've left the restaurant after how we were greeted when we first walked in. I will not be going back to this place and will continue going to other sushi places with excellent...
Read moreWhat a find!!!! Booked this for Date Night knowing nothing about it and not having read any reviews.
All I can say is it is the most authentic Japanese Food I have found in Ireland, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the service is sublime.
Bottomless Green Tea throughout the meal, I think we ordered pretty much everything on the Tapas menu, nothing was rushed we ordered small plates three separate times and all arrived quickly and were breathtaking.
We had the Chicken Gyoza (5 generous pieces), Prawn Gyoza both of which were gorgeous, pot sticker style lightly fried but light and packed with flavour.
The Tempura Okra were like little puffs of air and freshness, not oily or wet like can sometimes be the case elsewhere.
The Shitake Yakatori was so unusal but delicious, clearly marinated for a long time, full of flavour and divine.
For the Sushi we had the Volcano Rolls, Spider Roll and Tiger Roll, all very different but fresh, light and so moreish.
Also had the Sweet Potato and Wagyu Beef Korokke a Crocette style Tapas dish, again very unusual on the pallate but scrumtpious.
One stand out dish was the Grilled Sea Bass Tapas plate, just order it, show stopper of a dish!!
All washed down with endless refills of delicious Japanese Green Tea, a fantastic experience and the young men working the floor are a credit to the place and their country, heartily recommend trying this place out, we will...
Read moreI really do love No.9. It's in a decently accessible area right along two main roads and the Canal. It's a small, intimate atmosphere with the sushi bar being their main seating area.
They have a wide and pleasant tasting collection of Sake and Plum Wines, and even offer omakase / sake pairings for your meal. They have a unique selection of sushi fish that most sushi places in Dublin just don't have, going far beyond the average salmon and tuna. They even have otoro, chutoro, and hamachi. My favorite dish of theirs is their signature dish, the sukiyaki. It's meant for two people to share, but I love the flavor of each part so much I can often finish it as my entire meal. The best way I can describe it is as a japanese hot-pot, with rich, beefy broth over shitake-like mushrooms, thinly sliced beef, glass noodles, cabbage, tofu, and more. It comes out in a ceramic pot over a small gel fire, and is served with rice. For the quality and diversity of their menu, their prices are wonderful. Over the past year I must have gone 6 to 8 times, trying a different thing each time.
My only negative is that their outdoor seating area, like every restaurant on Baggot Street, faces busy Baggot Street traffic and is shaded by the various buildings. Sit indoors and enjoy the atmosphere and the wonderful...
