What a delightful surprise to find such an outstanding spot just a short stroll from our hotel (Dylan Hotel). The Waterloo House delivered on every front—food, service, atmosphere, and that rare feeling of being genuinely welcomed.
🧅 The Onion Rings were a crispy, golden revelation—light, flavorful, and dangerously addictive. 🍽️ My wife’s dish? I can’t recall the name, but I do remember her smile. That says it all.
🍺 The beer selection was a standout—diverse, well-curated, and full of local flavor. The bartender guided us with care and offered a small sample to help us choose. I landed on the Wicklow Wolf, and now I’m on a mission to find it back home. It’s that good.
🎨 And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get better, we noticed the picture of Sinéad—a quiet, powerful tribute that added soul to the space.
Whether you're in for a pint, a bite, or a moment of calm in the city, The Waterloo House is the kind of place that makes you feel lucky to have found it. We’ll be raising a glass to this memory for...
Read moreFour of us stopped in for drinks only. Admittedly bar was busy but despite first barman serving 2 other individuals as well as us didn't have time to listen for us to order 4 drinks and when asking about whiskeys offered us a menu but once our money was taken wandered off (not to serve any one else though) and selected for us to pay in GBP without asking when I wanted to pay in Euro, the local currency after all. Bar started to quieten down so stayed for a second round and to try some Irish whiskey. Different barman, who told us we were "being too slow" when ordering 2 wines, 2 beers and 4 different whiskeys. Then served a single shot in a highball tumbler full of ice - never have I ever experienced someone trying to serve any spirit like that. Then just decanted into a separate whiskey glass. Only bar in Ireland over last 2 weeks that we have experienced a total lack of the promised Irish hospitality. Such a shame for our last...
Read moreThis is one of my go-to places for pub food in Dublin. It has a vast selection of beers (reasonably priced), and their menu is really good value. Especially the starters, the braised pork ribs (8€) and chicken wings (6.50€ small, 8.50€ large) are great value since the portions are really nicely sized. The chicken wings are crispier than standard chicken wings, so if you like that you'll love the wings here. A large portion of chicken wings + a side of sweet potato fries (4€) will be more than enough even if you're...
