Neo is a hidden gem, situated on the docks at Galway Harbor, with a nice view from the oversized window. Galway sunsets should look spectacular from here. The decor is minimalistic and trendy, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for informal dining. I thought the food was outstanding - and I've enjoyed a lot of "Asian Street Food" both in the USA and in Asia (including Thailand). I don't claim to be a connoisseur... but the food at Neo is as good as any I have tasted, and way better than most. I got to sample the Spring Rolls, the BBQ pork ribs (absolutely delicious!), the Pad Thai, the Thai Green Curry, and the Tikka Massala. The freshness of the ingredients, the quality of the cooking, and the presentation were all excellent. All of this, combined with excellent, and very friendly service make Neo a perfect choice for an informal meal, or for takeaway. The dishes are reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant - just remember it's a casual place, no starched linen tablecloths - just good food. I like the way they serve the food as "take away", while providing nicely designed porcelain bowls so that you and serve as much as you want and take the leftovers home. I don't usually get too excited over "street food restaurants" but Neo absolutely exceeded my expectations. The freshness of the ingredients with no hint of "greasiness" is, I think, what made the difference. Well...
Read moreWe ordered from Neo To Go twice and were very happy with the food. It was on the expensive side but the portion size was good so on balance it appeared to be worth it. On our third visit my wife ordered the same dish as before, Massaman Curry. When it arrived it was 95% onions with about 5 pieces of carrot. Nothing else. My wife is not a fan of onions but can tolerate them in a dish but this was totally inedible even too me who loves onions. She basically ended up having a very expensive curry fried rice! I called the restaurant to complain as it basically ruined our weekend take away. The manager called me back shortly after and offered to email me a voucher for the price of the curry. I said this was appreciated and gave him my email address and went back to my evening moderately satisfied, but dinner was still ruined. I waited for the voucher to arrive but it did not come that evening. I thought they were probably busy and would do it at a quiet time. No. Still no voucher over a week later. If you are going to demonstrate that you have good customer service and that you take complaints seriously then please follow through with your jestures....
Read moreThe food here is gorgeous. I booked this restaurant for my wife and I for dinner last night. We had the spring rolls and butterfly prawn to start, and had the fire cracker for mains, one with prawn and one with beef and a bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. The flavours of the food were amazing and everything cooked fresh. I travel quite a bit out of the country with work and usually have Asian for dinner, and this is one of the best I've had. Ciaran the owner couldnt have been any more friendly and the staff any more helpful. The restaurant itself is super cool, laid back casual dining and the prices very reasonable. This place really is a hidden gem in Galway. Definitely worth a visit. We'll...
