Quite a surprising bit of bad service on 25/10/22 around midnight in the ground floor bar. Have been to the Dail many times and usually love it.
Queuing at bar and chatting away to a group of lads, bar lady (short dark hair, young) was chatting to them so I asked if I could order please. Literally a harmless and polite request made once I had made eye contact with her when there was a break in the conversation! She wasn't even taking their order, or any other order.
She cut me down harshly, and said something to the effect of "it would be normal to let someone finish a conversation before being interrupted into doing another thing". Even the guys I was chatting to looked at me in surprise at such a rude reaction. Then she walked away, pretending to do nothing and came back over to me about 5 seconds later.
I extended an olive branch and started to say "sorry, if I came across as interrupting it wasn't intentional" (even though I certainly wasn't - I was trying to enjoy my night out so was trying to dissipate any negativity) but couldn't finish my sentence as she interrupted me (ironic) and said, "the correct way to order is to wait for the server to say "what can I get you?" And then you can order".
There's a few things here. Firstly, it's not my first time in a bar so don't teach me how to order. Secondly, I work in a public facing job and know it's hard work so I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was the worst I've seen in my time living in Galway. Not only did I not want to order a single drink, I think I might not come back - I'm not used to making negative reviews as you can see, so for it to motivate me to do so shows how bad this experience was. I work very hard and on a rare night out it's not fair to tarnish it.
The lady needs to know that she isn't doing the customer a favour taking an order, the customer is doing her a favour by choosing the Dail. The band were great and the other male...

Well now, I live local, and for my sins I visited this pub this evening, Tuesday, on my own, for a quiet beer. I visited at approx 19:15hrs, and was meet, unfortunately by a barman who choose to interact with myself in a quiet disrespectful manner. Enough to ensure I will not be returning here, anytime soon. He seemed to have , shall we say, ' some issues ' which manifested themselves in his unpleasantness and disrespect. Even more galling when I watched him being more than friendly to some overseas American visitors. I am just in there offering my custom, and if staff choose to be rude and unpleasant. I will just take my custom elsewhere, to premises where staff are pleasant, and welcoming. Quiet simple, really. If I ain't happy with the service I receive I will write review and people can then make their own choices. It never hurts to be pleasant and welcoming, especially in the hospitality industry. I have many, many choices where to spend my cash here in Galway and am very selective. Maybe I stick to the Five star hotels, as the staff are very peasant, well trained, with little evidence of psychological / personality issues. I find many bar staff in the pubs here in Galway seem to have a 'strange attitude ' towards there customers. Let us remember that being bar staff, is not a high tech position. To be kind, any monkey can do it, with minimal training. Customer service, that's a whole different issue.
It was quiet a come down form the Ardiliun Hotel in Taylors Hill, Galway, a 5 star hotel, where the staff there have no describable mental / psychological issues, just happy for the custom, and respectful and pleasant to their customers, which was where I had just come from.
I think I will just stick to Five star hotels, for proper, civilized service, with no...
Read moreI recently visited Dail Bar in Galway and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was lively and the staff was welcoming and attentive. One of the highlights of my evening was trying their delightful range of cocktails.
I started off with the Zombie cocktail, and it quickly became my personal favorite. The combination of flavors was simply sensational, with a perfect balance of fruity and tangy notes. It had a refreshing twist that made it stand out from other cocktails I've tried. If you're a fan of exotic and tropical flavors, the Zombie cocktail is a must-try.
Next, I ordered the Peach Cobbler cocktail. It was a sweet and fruity concoction that was incredibly refreshing. The peach flavor was prominent, and the subtle hints of other fruits added a delightful complexity. This cocktail is perfect for those who enjoy lighter and sweeter drinks.
Moving on, I tried the classic Mojito, and it didn't disappoint. The minty freshness combined with the zing of lime made it a perfect choice for a summer evening. The Mojito at Dail Bar was expertly crafted, with just the right amount of sweetness and a balanced kick of rum. It's a timeless drink that never fails to impress.
Finally, I opted for the Gin & Tonic, a classic cocktail with a twist. Dail Bar's take on this popular drink was exceptional.
Overall, Dail Bar in Galway is a great spot to enjoy delicious cocktails. The Zombie cocktail, with its unique blend of flavors, stood out as my personal favorite. Whether you're in the mood for something tropical, fruity, or classic, Dail Bar has an impressive selection of cocktails that will satisfy...
