Read moreOysters being my favourite I ordered them here. I eat one then tried the rest and spat them out. They were milky and did not taste good.
When I paid the bill and I was not looking for a discount, the bar maid asked was the food to my liking and I said that I thought the oysters were off. She was not happy with this comment and told me they were not off and she was correct. I said that they were milky and she retorted that this was how Galway oysters were. In fact, that were really poor because they were spawning due to higher water temperatures this time of year.. I should have sent them back as they looked like the worst oysters in history and that I had ever seen.
Lesson avoid oysters in a month with no R. Although had the best oysters at Johnny Foxes in Wicklow.
It was not a totally bad experience, lovely pub with character and our waitress from Dublin was lovely and efficient.

Read moreSTAY AWAY. Will never return. Five friends and myself were refused service here for being on a "stag" according to the very ignorant young barman. We told him we only wanted a table and a few drinks and that nobody was on a stag. He became aggressive and told us to leave in front of everybody and caused a big scene about it. I felt ashamed and humiliated by the way we were treated. I wouldn't mind but it was early in the evening and there was not many in the bar.
Two ladies sitting at the bar pipped up and said "they don't look like they are on a stag", to which to barman replied and told them to mind their own business that he can handle it. How a bar can treat customers like this and get away with it is beyond me.
From a business perspective, the young barman was very quick to stereotype which is wrong on a lot of levels and needs to be addressed asap. The bar lost out on money that night and will lose out on a lot more by the way people are being...
