My husband and I traveled from Canada, and as avid enthusiasts of Irish and Gaelic culture, we were eager to sample authentic fish and chips and shepherd's pie in Galway!

The food exceeded our expectations—the fish and chips were crispy, flavorful, and the fish itself was wonderfully tender. To our surprise, we both enjoyed the side of mint and mashed peas, despite my dislike for peas and my husband's aversion to mint! The shepherd's pie was hearty, delicious, and quite filling; I found myself so satisfied that I had to ask my husband to finish it.

The only disappointments were the hot chocolate, which, despite its appealing presentation, lacked quality and flavor; and our waitress, who seemed disengaged and unfriendly, rarely checking on her tables. Fortunately, a blonde waiter stepped in to assist us and others nearby, proving to be helpful, respectful, and knowledgeable. While the waitress's attitude was unfortunate, it didn't detract from the overall experience, as the rest of the staff were excellent, indicating that the issue was personal rather than a reflection of the restaurant as a whole.

When traveling, free wi-fi becomes a crucial resource for tourists, which is one of the reasons why we selected this restaurant. Unfortunately, once the live music begins, the wi-fi connection drops, likely because it’s turned off to prioritize access for the musicians. While this is understandable, it would be helpful for diners to be made aware of this policy, as it significantly influences the choice to eat here. That said, the music was fantastic, so I highly recommend staying for a few songs!

We will definitely return on our next trip to Ireland! With so many pubs to choose from in Galway, we wholeheartedly recommend The Front Door Pub to tourists for its exceptional taste, quality, pricing, and...

I had an incredibly disappointing experience last night. The ambiance might be decent, and the security staff was professional and courteous, but the service from the bartender was absolutely atrocious.

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the bartender had no interest in providing good customer service. Not only did they ignore me for several minutes while chatting with their colleagues, but when they finally did acknowledge my presence, they acted as if I was a burden. The eye-rolling, curt responses, and overall dismissive attitude were entirely uncalled for.

To make matters worse, when I politely pointed out that my drink was made incorrectly, the bartender became defensive and downright hostile. Despite the fact that I was ordering my first drink of the night and was completely sober, the bartender treated me as if I were a drunk causing trouble. This assumption was not only wrong but incredibly insulting.

I have been coming here for six years, and I have never felt as disrespected as I did by this young bartender. This level of disrespect is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that prides itself on being a friendly neighborhood bar. It’s a shame that the excellent professionalism of the security staff was overshadowed by the bartender’s rude behavior.

I won’t be returning and I certainly won’t be recommending it to anyone. If management cares at all about their reputation, they need to take serious steps towards retraining their staff on basic courtesy and customer service.

For reference, the bartender’s picture is attached to this review.

I arrived to Galway for a break away with my boyfriend last Tuesday. After travelling down we were hungry and heard the front Door was a great place to get food.

When we went in there was only a few people eating and the food looked lovely. My boyfriend is celiac and a good few options have a gluten free option. My boyfriend decided to get toasted sandwich that had AGF above the section on the menu, which means available gluten free. There was different ones available ham and cheese, chicken etc: my boyfriend asked could he have a plain toasted sandwich with just chicken and cheese on it. The waitress said he could not have that and could only pick a sandwich from the menu ? Does this mean they are ready made ?

The chicken sandwich that was on the menu had garlic and onion etc all he wanted was chicken and cheese but apparently that couldn’t be done. So he went for the ham and cheese sandwich. On the menu this sandwich came with onion and tomato And he asked could he have it without that and the waitress said he could.

I ordered the chicken sandwich that had cheese garlic sauce etc. I asked to have chips with mine. When the food came down my boyfriends sandwich had Onion and tomato after being requested that it wouldn’t. My sandwich was drenched in garlic sauce and was very hard to eat. There was side salad with sauce on the salad and we didn’t know if it was gluten free or not. All the floor staff were going around the place that we couldn’t get their attention to enquire about this.

Overall we were very disappointed with the food and we won’t be returning to the front door...

ENGLISH: In the center of Galway, The pub offers many areas located on multiple levels and despite it can accommodate many people, it is able to guarantee to everyone spaces isolated and reserved. The place, like many Irish pubs, is warm and quaint. Children are allowed (something not to common in the places where people is allowed to drink alcool) and they have their own menu available, cheap i'd say.. The beers, gins and even wines are all carefully selected. Prices are fair and the quality satisfactory. We have taken both meats and fish and everything was greatly appreciated. The Guinness here is "true" in many other locals "watered down" ... Consigliatissimo
