If you're looking for a party and a good time, Quays Bar and Restaurant is the place for you. Whether you're a tourist or a local, you can tell instantly from first stepping into the establishment that the vibes will be good. It does get quite busy and loud upstairs especially with the live music. There's more seating downstairs for the restaurant which isn't as hectic. The bathrooms are located upstairs, so during peak times, just be aware it can take a bit of time navigating through the hustle and bustle of the restaurant and the bar crowd. Also, make sure to keep track of your group because it can definitely be easy to lose track of them with everything going on. However, you can tell everyone there is there to have a good time. The food was pretty good, although I wasn't a super huge fan of the oysters. I probably wouldn't order them again if I went back. The cottage pie was good but maybe a bit on the salty end. For the most part, I was pretty satisfied with my experience here. But as I mentioned before, it can get quite busy. I do feel like it was hard to get a hold of our server while we were eating. It probably took about 30 minutes just to get the check after we finished our food. And overall, it was just hard to get service in general. Granted, the servers are probably swamped with all the guests they have to attend to. I don't fault them for it; it's just something to keep in mind if you visit. Don't plan to get in and out quickly if you're in a rush during peak times.

We arrived to a packed bar with pumping live music so it was safe to say we didn’t expect too much for the food but we were led downstairs to a quaint dining area and were accommodated despite it being close to closing for the restaurant. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the ingredients and expert cookery, added to that the presentation made it feel as though I was sitting in a masterchef kitchen. I opted for the oysters to start, they were very fresh, had to have been caught that day. Next up was the Seabass & romesco sauce, which was cooked beautifully and was loaded with flavour, by far in a way the best meal I had during my visit. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and the sauce was perfectly rich to tie the whole dish together along with a stunning mash. Towards the end of our meal I couldn’t help but feel the craving for more oysters so I had asked if I could order another plate, despite the kitchen being closed the chefs were more than happy to accommodate and even threw in an extra oyster to boot - a very nice touch. I was totally blown away by the unassuming Quay bar and restaurant. Don’t give it a miss! Thanks to the staff involved, great work!

Do NOT go to this bar. Absolutely horrific experience with staff members which I will not forget. And by the looks of other reviews, other members of the public have had a similar experience. Was down in Galway with two friends for a couple days this week. On Wednesday night we decided to go here for a few casual drinks. At around 11, I decided to get the second round of drinks for my friends. The bar was starting to get busy so I was standing at the bar for a while to get served (which I don’t mind btw). After around 15 minutes, no barman seemed to be taking my order. They all seemed to be ignoring certain people and taking orders randomly from people who just joined the queue. A lady on front of me was waiting even longer. One particular barman, who is nothing more than an aggressive male, purposefully ignored us and when I thought he was finally going to take the lady’s order in front of me, he pointed almost purposefully at the lad who arrived behind me minutes before for his order. At this stage I was shocked and questioned why he seemed to be ignoring mine and the lady’s orders. The aggressive barman then shouted at me saying “shut the you know what up, you T word. I can take whoever’s orders I feel like. You’re not special”. His attack sounded extremely personal which is why I was so shocked and my only explanation for his behaviour is pure misogyny. I’m a respectable woman and did absolutely nothing to warrant such a response. Now I won’t deny I gave him a piece of my mind once he said that to me. At this stage, the other lady decided to leave as she wasn’t getting served. The angry barman was so agitated by me challenging him he then told other barmen not to serve me. I did absolutely nothing wrong and the whole experience left a terrible taste in my mouth. This was beyond a rude barman. This was verbal assault and misogyny. I’m thinking of taking action as I’m so appalled. To have a male like that employed who clearly is a liability to their service is incredibly shocking. I was so upset I had to leave. Please please don’t give this pub your hard earned cash. I didn’t get that barman’s name but he was around 24-28 years old. Fair/blonde hair. Stocky...

I would have given this place five stars if they did not have the most discriminatory bouncers ever! We went to this place around 9pm and had a very lovely time. Loved the live music and the atmosphere, absolutely wonderful.

HOWEVER, when we went another day we were stood in a queue to get in with lots of drunk people (we only had 2 drinks). We were stood next to a bunch of drunk, misogynistic boys that kept touching my friend. We obviously did not want to associate ourselves with them and turned our backs to these boys. Eventually, they skipped in front of us. When we got to the front of the line, one of the boys shook his head to the bouncer. The boys were allowed in and my friend was asked to leave the queue. Mind you, we had not said anything and were just waiting and happy to get away from that group of boys. When we asked why she had to leave the queue the bouncer began to scream “GET OUT” in her face. We were absolutely shocked! The bouncer then screamed to us to either enter alone and leave our friend or quickly get out as well. He did not give us a reason as to why our friend had to leave the queue. We tried to reason with him calmly and just ask for the reason why we had to leave the queue. Not because we wanted to get back in but because we were genuinely curious as to why many drunk people were let in and not us. The bouncer became incredibly agitated and honestly looked like he was about to punch us. My friend asked whether we weren’t allowed in because we weren’t Irish he just confessed and kept shouting at us to get away. Absolutely appalling behaviour!! From reading the reviews online, this apparently happens quite often, and I do not get why a place like this does not remove these...

We dined with my family of five on Friday night. While we were excited to spend time together, our experience was marred by several issues.

Upon arrival, we struggled to find the restaurant due to the lack of signage. The stairs were also unmanaged, leading to a chaotic atmosphere. Once seated, I ordered a prosecco, which wasn't chilled. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a waiter to express my concern.

I then ordered a glass of white wine, which was also not chilled. When I brought this to the attention of a waiter, I was surprised to learn that the wine was served on tap and wasn't meant to be chilled. If I had known this beforehand, I wouldn't have purchased it.

My husband also had an issue with his third bottle of Peroni, which didn't taste like the previous two. Given his sensitivity to certain beers, this caused him discomfort and heartburn.

Additionally, the service was somewhat inattentive. When the table was being cleared, only three plates were taken, and we had to ask for the remaining two to be cleared later. When the bill arrived, the waiter rushed through the items and asked us to confirm without giving us a chance to review it thoroughly.

Furthermore, we were disappointed with the portion sizes, which were small considering the high cost of the meal. Given the prices, we expected more substantial servings, and unfortunately, the experience did not feel like value for money.

While the waiters were friendly, the overall experience was disappointing. We hope that you will take our feedback seriously and make necessary...
