A recent dining experience at "Hooked" left my taste buds tantalized and my heart full of delight. This seafood haven lived up to its name, reeling us in with its delectable oysters and an exceptional array of fish dishes. Our waitress, Niamh, deserves a special mention for her outstanding service that added a touch of warmth to our entire dining experience. While the absence of champagne was a minor disappointment, the exquisite prosecco more than made up for it. "Hooked" is undoubtedly a place where seafood enthusiasts can have an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.

Service: Niamh, our lovely waitress at "Hooked," made a significant impact on our dining experience. Her friendly demeanor and attentiveness were truly commendable. She guided us through the menu with a genuine passion for the dishes, suggesting the finest catches of the day and ensuring that our dining preferences were met to perfection. Niamh's charming smile and willingness to go the extra mile made us feel truly valued as customers, enhancing our overall enjoyment

Culinary Delights: "Hooked" is a seafood lover's dream come true. The oysters, a signature starter, were impeccably fresh and flawlessly presented. Each succulent bite was a taste of the ocean, leaving us craving for more.

For the main course, we savored the haddock and the monkfish, and both dishes were nothing short of superb. The haddock, perfectly cooked and seasoned, had a delicate texture that melted in our mouths. The monkfish, a delightful surprise, was expertly prepared and infused with delectable flavors that left us in awe.

Beverages: While we initially longed for champagne to accompany our seafood feast, the prosecco offered as an alternative was a delightful surprise. Its crisp and refreshing taste blended wonderfully with the seafood dishes, complementing the flavors and adding a touch of celebration to our dining experience.

Ambiance: Though not explicitly mentioned, I must note that "Hooked" offers a cozy and inviting ambiance that suits its theme perfectly. The maritime-inspired decor, coupled with subtle nautical touches, sets the stage for a captivating seafood adventure.

Conclusion: In conclusion, "Hooked" lives up to its name as a seafood haven that delivers exceptional culinary delights. The oysters were divine, and the haddock and monkfish dishes left a lasting impression. Niamh's impeccable service added a personal touch to the entire experience, making us feel like valued guests. While we missed having champagne, the delightful prosecco compensated brilliantly. For anyone seeking a memorable seafood dining experience with top-notch service, "Hooked" is an absolute must-visit. We left the restaurant with smiles on our faces, grateful for the fantastic experience that we will cherish for a long...

This restaurant caters to caucasians. We were excited to eat here and unfortunately the service was terrible! I have never completed a review and blamed bad service on racism. However, this is the first and in Ireland of all places! The red head and short haired blond in this Hook restaurant need to be unhooked! They suck! Worst display of racism. We were seated in the corner and another group who looked to be middle eastern were seated right in front the restrooms. I heard them ask if they can move to the next table and the red head rudely told them no, another group was arriving & will sit in that table. There were 5 caucasians to the 6 middle easterners that were already seated in front of the restrooms. We noticed all the great service provided to all the other white patrons and not us or the other group. We were seated in the worst seats in the restaurant and left with no service. 10 minutes to get our drink orders & food. Another 15 minutes to receive our drinks, 20 minutes to get appetizers and entrées never made it almost 30 minutes later because we left. We noticed that the other colored group did so too. The appetizers we did receive was mediocre at best. Too much aiole and not enough cheese sauce. See the seating arrangements from our vantage point? Gobdaw!

10/20/2022 - I received an email from the owner, who claims to be Iranian and was out of town at the time, apologizing for my experience and demanding I reframe my racism claims. He says I am wrong. How horrible to try and devaluate someone’s experience at their establishment in an effort to reframe my very accurate review. How do you explain not presenting the specials to the only 2 obviously colored patron tables in the restaurant. Review your cameras if you have any to see with your own eyes our attempt to get service. Also, the group by the restroom did request to be moved to a table large enough to accommodate them and away from the restroom, which was empty when we arrived and was rudely told by the waitress that they are seating another group there (a caucasian group by the way). All other caucasian tables received excellent service and the waitresses avoided eye contact with us when we tried to get their attention or service. My group and the middle eastern group seated by the toilets left before receiving entrees due to our horrendous treatment. Must be a sign of...

I am only reviewing on the service. We are from Asia, visiting Galway and Ireland the first time. This evening, I called on my way to the restaurant and said I have two kids with me and we are 9 minutes away. She said there was a table open, and there are other people paying and leaving as well, so we should have a table when we get there. Yet when I arrived 9 minutes later, she said we have to wait 1 hour. I dragged two children across town trusting her information, and she was rude and didn't even show a slight sense of care or guilt. I can't help sensing a racial motivated attitude from the way she spoke to us. Three white people right before us got seated right away, but she refused us without hesitation despite me calling beforehand. Just because people are willing to give you business doesn't mean you should stop acting as a decent human being. What a terrible way to leave a bad mark for Irish culture and people.

Updated on restaurant reply: Thanks for responding to my review. We only stayed a day in Galway, did my research beforehand on local food, saw recommendations for your restaurant, was hoping for a great treat of local seafood. But you know what happened. I understand you don't generally take reservations, that's why I called in advance to see my chances of getting a table as I have children with me after a long day's trip. It was the coldness and total lack of care of the staff in that situation that really disappointed me. There were a number of tables that were empty at the time we were there, but the staff said there were 9 groups of people before us waiting. If that's the case, why did she tell me I have a very good chance of getting a table just 9 minutes before we arrived? Also I didn't see anyone outside of the restaurant waiting, so I don't know where these 9 groups of people were. Plus, if 9 people could be waiting, why couldn't the staff answering my call add me to the wait list? I did asked her and she said no. The circumstances call for suspicion of more than just us having bad...

We searched online for a specific fish restaurant. We were about to eat fish on our one day trip to Galway. So we found you through Google with a score of 4.7. We found this location quite hard maybe because we were hungry and we needed it faster. We came by foot from the Galway cathedral. Near the restaurant, is a fish store and a lot of people was waiting outside for the take away order. Seeing this my trust in this restaurant grown. The restaurant was small yet allmost full. Only 2 tables for 2 remain available. One was ours and we had a lovely one near the window as you can see it in the picture. Still overall I don't like the location of the restaurant. The toilet is for both genders and is like a boat theme. My husband ordered grilled fish of the day with salad and he enjoyed it, but from him side was good. I ordered a sea food chowder and as you can see in the picture was not chowder was more like a cream. In the description of the menu "with chunks" was there. If I knew, I would probably didn't order it. I was disappointed. It was good as taste but imagine all that fish smashed in there. I prefer chunks of fish and seafood as should the name chowder reflect. The problem was that I encountered a lot of skin and bones. When I found something black like a fish eye it just make be feel sick. Where were the promised chunks? Is it a chowder or a cream soup?
