Galway is no stranger to seafood, it has quite a lot of restaurants that only do seafood, so it takes a lot to stand out in the crowd. Oscars seafood bistro, is one of those places that stand out in the crowd. The greeting you receive when you walk through the door, is like being welcomed into the family. The attention to detail in every corner of the restaurant, makes it a warm place and a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff could not do enough, attention and service were fantastic. Oscar has created a menu that is truly out of his childhood Dishes like Atlantic squid taco or rustic hake, smoked salmon with dill whipped goats cheese oysters and muscles. After starting with squid tacos, which while being very true to a taco, made with true corn floor (masa) were one of the best tacos I have had in a very long time. The hake was definitely a star shining very bright in a sky of stars. The broth, very well balanced with notes of fennel, star anise, leeks, garlic, samphire. The hake, perfectly cooked and flaky. The muscles cooked to perfection. And just when I thought it could not get any better. Oscar walked past, he came back with a big slab of bread, the perfect way to get all that flavor in one bite. We will be back and back and back. I would have no problem driving the 2 hours from Dublin to...

We got reservations at Oscar’s for 6:30 on a Friday night in June. The meal was good - both the salmon ceviche and the scallops were a bit on the rubbery side, but everything tasted fine overall. We’d been looking forward to the meringue dessert based on the recommendation of friends of ours, and had said as much to the server when we sat down. As soon as they cleared our dinner plates just before 8PM, however, they dropped the check off without asking if we’d like anything else. When we said that we were hoping to have dessert, they told us that our table was required for another party coming in at 8:00 and we had to pay and leave. When we protested, they said that since our reservations were for 6PM, we needed to make way for the other party. After reminding them that our reservation was actually for 6:30, and that nothing have ever been said about a time limit, they said “OK, you can have the table until half past 8” and they let us stay and have dessert. Even though they let us stay, it felt begrudged. The experience of being pressured to leave the restaurant immediately after finishing our entrees left a sour tase in our mouth for the whole evening. We likely won’t be going back to Oscar’s on our next...

Had a lovely evening with my wife and our friends. Way pricey than your usual dinner but you get what you pay for. Almost like fine dining. The staff was very helpful. She explained everything in the menu including the one which had alcohol in it. They even facilitate for us to make it alcohol-free. They chef was also kind to clean off the pots and pans before cooking out food. And the food was incredible as well. The dishes were fresh and delicious. Would recommend the mussels and monkfish. Unfortunately could not had the desserts as most of them have alcohol in them. Would love to have them as there sounded very intriguing from the menu. The washroom and environment in the restaurant was comfrotable and clean as well. Would recommend to book a table in advance especially for the weekends. There were a lot of people when we had our dinner there. Overall very satisfied and would highly recommend for anyone looking for high end seafood dinner. They offer steak as well in the menu.
