Food is great and the Whiskey choices are second to none in Galway, maybe all of Ireland. I ordered their Sonny Malloy's Redbreast 19 y/o. It was amazing! So smooth and almost melts in your mouth. The glass it was served in had a nice chip in it on one side of the rim. We told our server about it because I didn't want them to think I chipped it. It was a very nice Sonny Malloy RB 16 y/o glass. I said no worries at all about the glass "I'll just drink from the other side". I'm low maintenance and don't like to cause a fuss. Our server insisted on getting another glass and I told her don't worry about it. She came back with another pour of the SM 19 free of charge!! I told her she shouldn't have but she insisted. I was blown away by their service and kindness. I can't say enough kind words about this establishment. ...

We were nearby and decided to stop here for a drink since it had such great ratings. We walked in and the bar area was completely full so we walked into the next room and found a table. The waitress came up and took our drink order. A few minutes later, another waiter came up and asked what we would like, we told him that we already put in our drink order. He asked if we were getting food and we said no, we were just in for a drink. He was very rude with us and told us that we would half to move to the bar if we wouldn’t order food (still no tables so.) There were no signs saying that you couldn’t sit there for only drinks and no one even talked to us when we walked in. After this happened, he started putting “reserved table” signs on all the other tables, I’m assuming so no one else would “bother him”...

My wife and I sat down at the bar and weren't really greeted or tended to, we had to catch the bartenders attention to place our order. It didn't seem like he had too many things going on as he was chatting with his coworkers. We did get some interesting facts out of him when he did engage with us, that a local woodworker wraps a 'Sonny Molloy's' laser etched piece of wood around a flask for them to sell. We promptly added it to our bill and paid after 2 Guiness and a neat Jameson. The bottles of Whisky that surround the pub make for an interesting decor, there was no shortage of Readbreast and Middleton bottles. It did look as though they also had their own Labled whisky and...

WOW! Best experience in Galway without a single doubt! If you are here in Galway and you want to have wonderfull beer, whiskey and food you would be remiss if you did not stop at Sonny Molloy’s. My father and I have been planning a driving trip to Ireland for no less than 20 years and despite COVID we finally did it. Sonny Molloy’s is one of the high points, if not THE highpoint of the trip so far! If you are there, say hello to Ray, George, and most of all, Decklin (I wish I would have got the name of the fantastic bartender that helped us on our second visit as she was an absolute delight!). Folks, I CANNOT stress enough, go to Sonny Molloy’s if you want to enjoy your Galway experience!
