I have been a regular (ie every couple of weeks) customer of this premises for a few years and have always enjoyed the food and as a lunchtime experience loved the fact that I could be in and out within 30 minutes, pay the same amount as I would for coffee and a stodgy sandwich (from the numerous shops providing same around town) but would go away sated and satisifed that I had something much tastier and hopefully much healthier. My issue with this restaurant is that after all my frequent visits I decided last November to call in to them to see if they did vouchers as i wanted to get one as a welcome gift for someone new who started in our organisation recently and I was aware that she loved sushi. The manager wasn't there when I went in (obviously after all my visits I knew who she was) so I met with a member of staff that I didn't recall seeing before and asked her if they did vouchers, initially she wan't sure, but then obviously found a pack of voucher slips under her desk and produced one. I asked if I could pruchase one for 20 euro and she said that was fine and asked me to sign it, I paid the 20 euro for it and left. Gave the voucher to work colleague and she was delighted. Couple of months later said colleague went to this restaurant with the voucher and when she went to pay they told her they couldn't accept it as it hadn't been stamped, she protested so they told her to wait for the manager. Eventually the manager appeared and said she wouldn't accept the voucher as it hadn't been stamped. My colleague came back in to work and embarrased and upset by the situation told me what happened, I was mortified but said I go there all the time and they know me I will go down to the restaurant and sort it out. Upshot was the manager who knew me very well as a frequent customer told me she wouldn't accept the voucher as it wasn't stamped . I argued that obviously the person who sold it to me didnt stamp it by mistake and how else would i have it in my possession and she inferred that it was either stolen or given to me by someone outside the restaurant fraudelently. The arguement went on and she brought out the members of staff who were working there that day and asked them (in her native language - japenese or looking at trip advisor reviews apparently staff are Chinese) and then said none of these people sold you this voucher. I argued how could they remember and she said if they didn't stamp it it wasn't valid and none of them remembered meeting me. I said that maybe then it was a person who no longer worked in the place but she said she hadn't changed staff for a number of months. I said are you accusing me of stealing the voucher and she shrugged her shoulders. Anyway suffice to say she was unyielding, cold and accusatory and unfortunately as I had paid in cash i had no way of proving otherwise. We had a heated argument but she wouldn't relent and told me to contact the guards if I was that upset about it..I said the guards have more than enough to do and she just smirked and turned away...I bawled her out of it for her instransigence and her accustaory tone but to no avail. Anyway, I am still disgusted by her attitude especially as a long time customer and to be left feeling like some sort of criminial and the embarrassment I endured as did my colleague. Look up trip advisor..they are great until something goes wrong and then you will see their complete disregard for customer service. Will never ever step inside their door again. Btw, much better Japenese restaurant in Georges Quay with far better sushi, more authentic japanese dishes and much more attractve surroundings, and also incredibly attentive and polite staff (which was never obvious in...

First visit: food was good and the waitress was super friendly. We clearly said we have an allergy—no bell pepper. The dish arrived loaded with bell pepper. We picked it out and tried to eat anyway; no luck.
When the waitress took the side plate piled with bell pepper, the manager swooped in and grabbed the mostly untouched noodle bowl (which still had traces after we removed the bell pepper). She asked if it was bad. We said the food was fine but it had bell pepper. Note: we did NOT ask for a refund. Instead of listening, she argued and basically implied we were lying. She went to the kitchen; the chef later said there was a language mix-up and he thought we meant pepper powder.
She came back to apologize and offer a refund. No thanks. What I despise is the attitude: we weren’t complaining or asking for anything, yet the manager decided to confront us like we were trying to scam her.
And yes, we stayed calm. I just wanted to chill. We even tipped the waitress before the manager started implying we were lying about an allergen we flagged from the start.
Why post this a month later? Because we ordered the same dish on Uber Eats—the person with me loved it the first time—and she got sick after. If you want proof, I can make this review harsher and add screenshots of the order and the conversation.
Bottom line: good food and a great server, but a manager with a confrontational attitude and a kitchen that failed a simple allergy...
Read moreWe love to dined in Taikichi for years because the food is very good. Yesterday, together with my son and our friend…we even waited outside the restaurant before the 12:00 noon opening. When we went in, there is already 1 customer sitting. We sat by the window beside the entrance and the waitress took our order. While waiting, as there is only 1 customer at that time..we decided to change sits as we find the stool uncomfortable. But not long after we sat in the brown cushioned seats, the waitress approached us and ordered us to return to the other side(cubicle). This is the first time that we thought we could choose sits where we could dined in comfortably but we felt humiliated, disappointed and distressed by the way we were ordered to move. What we can’t accept is the way the waitress talked to us and she said that “they want to reserve the sits for 4 persons customers”. We are 3 persons, and there is only 1 customer during this time. I don’t see anything wrong with what we did. As a customer, we had the right to choose. I would like to call the Taikichi Managements attention on how their employees treat the customers, regardless of race or nationality. We are paying customers. We have rights as customers. The waitress was unkind the way she talked and ordered us to move. We cancelled our orders and decided to leave. And with this bad experience, we will not going back again. Hope this reach the Management..and hoping this will not happen to...
