Alder Café Bar — Restaurant in South Dublin

We visited Alder's for dinner during our stay at The Plaza Hotel, and I cannot comprehend the good reviews about the food I find here. Maybe the chef had just a bad day, but this was by far(!) the worst food I had quite in a while - and definitely the worst food we had during our family trip to Ireland. My burger was overcooked, fatty and uninspired; the childrens' pizza was a blob of tasteless cheese analogue; and even basic sides like fries were dry and limp. Everything lacked salt and taste, but was SO fatty instead. The service was nice, the ambient ok-ish, but after a long day of travelling, good food is what matters, and our experience was just "never again". Besides, the prices were inadequately high. What a hidden gem , so much nicer than when the bar was called Grumpys it's now a stylish comfortable bar that myself and the wife will visit again for sure , rather than going to the same old places this is something fresh and new and very reasonable prices on drinks and food .. Furthermore I was pleasantly surprised to see a DJ on the night we was there and he was fantastic we will be returning for sure great bar...

Awful service, waited one hour for starters

Never come back again, very expensive as well

Edit: Mains was served 1 hour 20 minutes after ordering. My sisters food had plastic wrap in it and had to return it, two hours after ordering my sister is still waiting on...
