A beautiful little place with a very intimate atmosphere in Carlow. Love supporting local businesses especially when it's worth going out. A lot to choose from and packed with delicious flavours. You know if a salad is amazing on a menu, the rest won't disappoint. The ONLY criticism I have is the service... eventhough everyone is friendly, they need to be attentive to their sit-down customers. Multiple times we had to call someone for more drinks. Training is so important!!! When you see an empty glass, come over and ask!! This is so important as you can make so much more money per table and customers won't feel like they were forgotten about. I know the takeaway end is also important and busy (which is so good to see) but the people who come in to sit should be equally important. Once I received the wrong dish but didn't say anything as I don't mind trying new dishes and it was amazing. I asked the waiter and he simply stated "oh the other table got yours" and walked off. No apologies whatsoever. The issue is I asked for extra nuts in my (original) dish and the one I got had no nuts in it so could've been lethal if the other person who got mine had a nut allergy. Regardless of the service, we will definitely be back because I can't fault the food whether it's sit-down or takeaway. It's really REALLY GOOD. To those who say it's expensive, it's not!!! All restaurants have to deal with price increases which is a tough one so Support your local or just cook at home (because your bills also...
Read moreMy Mother's day treat...I am one for sterling service but the service was mediocre..in all fairness the service given by the server Zoë was brilliant...and I was told she'd started at the restaurant not so long ago...Thank you Zoë for your beautiful smile..friendliness and yes..you were professional too! We were not impressed by the other server..(sorry to say that) but V (cannot use her full name) was totally well..I was way to afraid to ask for something...no smile no nothing and someone at our table and to get up each time and ask for a knife...how can we cut meat with a dessert spoon?...Thrice we had to get up...and then we were advised she was training Zoë.. There was no smile no warmth no nothing and I felt uncomfortable 😕 her even serving us...I even said...hopefully Zoë would come back... The starters we had was the squid absolutely delicious...the sauces yes were delicious..I could not finish the churros..a bit too oily for me...and the others' fried icecream...well now....maybe we just came in the wrong day...but where we sat..had very pink lighting!! 😁..I'm sorry...I would have rated it all 5 stars..but for me..(a visitor) I was really not impressed!! Zoë..keep on going that extra mile...your service was excellent!! Certain foods were lovely...but...hey we do have our days...thank you for the...
Read moreThis is a review of the Neko restaurant in Carlow city. It's an Asian cuisine restaurant. We're rating it on a five-star scale.
Food: ★★★★☆ The food selection is extensive, but ordering is inconvenient because the menu is written without any order, everything is mixed together. We ordered Box Sets, and it turned out to be quite uncomfortable. The portions are of medium size. The tea was good, tasty, and leafy. For dessert, we ordered fried ice cream. It's a very simple and inexpensive dessert, but for some reason, at Neko, it costs 7.95 Euros and is quite small. Moreover, it wasn't the most delicious compared to other places that offer a similar dish.
Service: ★★★★★ No complaints here. There were no other customers in the restaurant except us. It might vary depending on the time. They didn't bother us, and everything was served on time. We are satisfied.
Atmosphere: ★★★★★ The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful, everything is tastefully decorated. The tables are comfortable. It's a bit dimly lit, but it adds a...
