I have been to Mimosa several times over the last 10 years in small and large groups and always felt welcome everytime. Tonight was a different story- felt under pressure to get out from the time we arrived even though service wasn’t very fast even waiting Over 40 mins for 1 guests 1st tapas dish with only a 2 hour allocation. We were told when we asked if we had time for dessert they would have to check. Were asked to leave our table even though we hadn’t finished our drinks and were offered the cork for our bottles of wine as we hadn’t finished them. We asked could we sit on veranda to finish our drinks and were told there was no space. Went to sit outside off the veranda area and were told off like 2 year olds for sitting in an area that wasn’t open but was not signposted or cordoned off as closed. Did not feel welcome at all and won’t be going back where our custom is not wanted. Staff member was very rude and the staff in general seem to be under pressure to get people out.
Post reply from mimosa I want to clarify for anyone reading- we were told our allotted time was 2 hours not 2.5 as per below and while we did go about 20 mins over time including the payment of the bill we did not have 2.5 hours and left as soon as we were told the next guests had arrived arrived. We all arrived within 2 minutes of the booking time of 6 pm. Based on the previous replies to bad reviews I actually expected a response like this but I am not one to go over and back but the attitude in the response below is exactly what we experienced on the night. We did apologise at the time for mid understanding their ‘clear’ instruction and did try to raise it with them how we felt on the night to be shouted at again. I dont leave a review on anything unless service stands out- either extremely good or extremely bad and I always give an establishment their chance to rectify a bad situation but the blatant rudeness we experienced has driven me to this. I will not be responding to any other rude comments or lies that are posted after this. I have recommended this place in the past for everything being excellent but they need to take a long hard look at how they respond to their customers as it looks like they have taken away the etiquette that good customer...
Read moreWell what can I say? I'm the person that moved seats without permission and so enraged the owner she took to post about customers moving seat without asking. Well I'm that customer that enraged her. Also I will point out at no time were we rude to any waitress! I challenge her to bring forth said waitress whom we left a good tip and made laugh in a very regimented workplace. If anyone was being rude it was the owner after I moved table for a better place for my psoritic arthritis, which she never asked our reason for moving just p. o. I never asked permission. She came to the table and inquired, "did you move without telling anyone, you will mess up the order's" . "My daughter then said we haven't ordered yet so no hassle". I wasn't going to post about the owners rudeness! But she started with her horrible post about paying customers daring to move seat. And as for the waitress being spoken to badly is a fabrication she tacked on for support of her outrage. Well the owner had to delete as she had significant backlash. I loved mimosa this incident has taken its shine of a near perfect venue to eat out in carlow. This is an add on in responce to the owner of mimosa if you do not decease telling lies about that evening I will be forced to take legal action where your manager and waitress will be called as witnesses wonder will they lie for you. There was plenty of empty tables and didn't realise the gestapo, opps ment owner needed to be informed when there was about five empty tables available. And here's the legal part your slander of my person saying we were rude and spoke badly to your staff, blatent lies! hope you got their permission to involve them in your enraged post. The only one cathriona that was rude an out of order was you. Also why would I ring ahead when your establishment doesn't cater for disabilities of any sort. If you keep up posting about customers in this climate see how many you will have, as moving seat was hardly any thing. Anyhoo your boring me now with your pathetic attempts at justification of your...
Read moreTo start things off, this place is unreal.
We were recommended this place by several people and they all said that Mimosa was the place to go.
After getting all the recommendations, we decided to give the restaurant a try and I'm thankful we did.
Firstly, it looks small from the outside but when you come in its actually quite big. The vibe in Mimosa is great, it has a personality of its own. The decor is unique and there are some peculiar pieces dotted around the place.
Even though its spacious, I would recommend to book a table before coming. It gets very busy very quickly. We got here at about 5.20 (the place opens at 5 o'clock) and it being a Wednesday the place was almost packed and with every other table reserved.
The staff are very hard workers. They are ALL diligent and on the ball which I scarcely say about any place.
Now onto the food. Everything we ordered was brilliant. The flavour, the portions and the taste complimented each other perfectly. The nachos and beef strips were my absolute favourite. Also the dessert was lovely. I ordered the churros since I'd never had them before and what better place to order them then in a Spanish restaurant. It came with caramel and chocolate sauce on the side. They were stunning. My now favourite dessert.
Overall this place was a win and if you are ever in Carlow Town I wouldn't be able to recommend this place enough. Everything from the location to the drinks (I ordered the Mango Refresher) were great and I will definitely be...
