I booked this venue for my son’s christening party and was really disappointed with the experience. First of all, food was not put out until it didn’t arrive until 5:30pm. By that point everyone was really hungry, and when it finally did come out, there was nowhere near enough food. I had been told that six platters would be plenty for the number of people attending (about 37, well under the 50-person capacity of the room I paid for), but it was not even close to enough, people were left hungry, which is unacceptable. On top of that, I was told I had to leave the room at 10pm and move into the tapas area, even though I had paid for the room itself. The dance floor was also so slippy it was unsafe, so we couldn’t even properly enjoy ourselves. I feel the service and value were very poor. For the amount paid, I expected much better more food, the room for the full night, and a safe environment to dance in. I wouldn’t recommend this venue based on...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience. I booked a table through their brand-new booking website, got a confirmation, and showed up on time. When I arrived, the staff acted confused and asked me when I booked. I said “today,” and their response was, “nobody is in the office today, so we don’t have your table.” Excuse me? Why even have an online booking system if you can’t manage it properly? Instead of the table I had reserved in the main restaurant/bar area (which I specifically chose for the wider food options), they stuck us on the rooftop terrace. The only food available up there was tapas — extremely overpriced for the tiny portion sizes. This was especially frustrating because it was meant to be my birthday dinner, and I had carefully booked the main area for that reason. Avoid this place unless you want to risk being turned away after making a “confirmed” booking and end up paying far too much for...
Read moreMc Geough's is located right in the heart of Dundalk town centre, directly across from St. Patricks church. There is a reasonable sized pay as you stay carpark across from the bar, and paid street parking all around. The bar was originally called The Condil, and was one of the longest established bars in the town. The Condil had very little investment over the years, so when it was taken over by new management, it was given a complete make-over. Today it is a very open and welcoming bar, serving good quality food. There are lunch specials, and the food is generally very good value. It's a good place for meeting in a small or large group. I have eaten and drank here on a number of occasions, and have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful on every occasion. It's definitely worth a visit for a pint or a bite to eat, when...
