This place has been going forever, I can remember visiting 20 years ago and my wife can remember visiting with her Mother before that.
For the main meal (fish or sea food) you also get a selection of salads and some bread. The service is really good and the owner friendly.
The salads are the normal ones you expect in a fish restaurant in Israel but were home made and really good. I really enjoyed home made and tasty Ikra, the Tabbouleh with a hint of cumin, the green salad made with ultra fresh lettuce and a real mayonnaise etc. The salads comes with bread. The first bread we was given was dry and slightly burnt but it was replaced with no fuss. We were offered more of any salads we wanted.
The fish were OK but I was a little disappointed that my Denise fish baked with garlic/cream/wine turned out to be an over cooked Denise with garlic and a wine/cream sauce on the side (rather than being cooked in it). My companions trout in cream and almonds was more successful.
The Denise was 106 and the trout 118 and that includes the salads and bread. A 400ll beer was 27. About par for Israel. Service...
Read moreWe went to Shtsupak on a last minute whim last Friday and were delighted to enjoy a wonderful meal. It was already mid afternoon, and there was plenty of room. I was glad that an accessible toilet has been added since my last visit. The bottomless salads were fresh, tasty and replenished generously (tehina, taboule, ikra, sweet and sour herring with onions, eggplant in tomato sauce, beets, a nicely dressed vegetable salad were some), and we were given a pitcher of water and warm, whole grain bread with them. The head waitress was kind enough to help interpret the blackboard menu, which was slightly faint, and very crowded, and she quoted all the prices accurately upon request. The very generous portions of scallops and shnitzel we ordered arrived together, sizzling hot, along with tiny whole baked potatoes (also replenished willingly). It was a celebration so we ordered desert. We had a delicious bavaria, a very large portion, and the best I had ever had. The bill was reasonable, the service pleasant and quick, and the food was outstanding. Highly...
Read moreBoth the food and the service were fantastic! As a tourist, I've been staying in Tel Aviv eating at various restaurants for about 1 week now and decided to spend a bit more money to eat at a good seafood restaurant before I left. The waitresses were all very good at their jobs, providing feedback on the menu and checking in on you throughout your meal. They are quick to apologize if they are a few minutes delayed in refilling your water or appetizers which is a nice touch that most service staff ignore (even though they were very quick in their service). The food was delicious and the unlimited salads and bread appetizers are included in the price of your main make this great value too. They provided various salads and dips in the appetizers which were all great! The fish we ordered were seabass and seabream, both were cooked well and tasted great. Left with a full stomach and would definitely put this on the #1 spot I ate throughout my week in Tel Aviv!...
