Pizzeria Pozzo Romano — Restaurant in Assisi

Form Canada, hoping for a good experience in Assisi.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was good, the food… not so much

Truffle pasta was pretty basic(truffle and olive oil), not worth the price.

Ordered the siciliana pizza which contained mozzarella, tomato’s, and capers, chile peppers. Only to find a pizza missing mozzarella on it and tasting like the saltiest version of seafood.

As well as the spicy salami, which was underwhelmingly basic, compared to what the menu described. and though I have a low spice tolerance, the salami was no where near spicy.

Surprisingly poor, not awful simply well below par. it is almost impossible to find anything less than good pizza in Italy but this place managed it. My wife and daughter had a salad which they reckoned was their worst meal in our entire holiday. I cannot imagine Italians would eat here but it survives because of tourists like us who stupidly did not look for online recommendations first . We ate our 2023 New Years dinner here. The restaurant was really pretty. You had to go down 4 steps to get to the level of the restaurant . It was great!! They were amazing. We didn’t have reservations and they seated us even though it was full.

We had the Grigliata mista which was really good. The meat was nice and soft. It was not hard. I recommend their frutti de Bosco dessert.
