Caffè del Borgo — Restaurant in Bari

This was our favourite place in Bari, the coffee is amazing and the Spritz’s are truly the best we had our entire trip. Both oat and soya milk available so perfect for a nice coffee in the sun. The Peroni was ice cold and perfect every time I ordered.

The music is always playing which created an atmosphere that was idyllic. All of the staff were so accommodating and friendly, they are so attentive that you don’t have to wait at all when you want another drink or have any questions for them.

The food was immaculate, particularly the frisella and the focaccia barese were phenomenal. We tried the breakfast aswell and that was amazing, the pastries were fresh and the yoghurt bowl was perfectly balanced.

The main reason for leaving such a low rating; We had a great experience in 2023: coffee was good and food as well tasty. Visited again in 2025, we sat down waited for 20 minutes when they realized that we are actually there, brought a menu then again waited 10 minutes after thatwe left because the service was just bad, no one came when in fact 3 of them were serving and just having a chat inside. Tried again on a morning around 8.15, they were bringing tables outside and opening we asked politely if we can sit, one of the ladies smiled and said yes the other one barely grunted just that we are not yet open. dopo aver fatto due aperitivi e una colazione (tra l'altro tempi di attesa lunghissimi, errore sbagliato con il manager che dice "non è arrivato perchè non lo avete ordinato" ...certo.. lo devi dire a noi cosa abbiamo ordinato o no!! spocchioso nei modi e molto maleducato.) .. in questo locale poichè oggettivamente in una posizione strategica e accattivante da FUORI, una mattina passando chiedo una bottiglia di acqua e con una faccia di bronzo mi dicono che c'è solo "calda" e che il bagno è fuori servizio, ovviamente consci del fatto che volevo prendere l'acqua per fare la pipì. Ci credo e passo oltre. Dopo qualche ora un amico maschio fa la stessa cosa, chiede acqua e va in bagno, e glielo permettono. Al che torno e chiedo nuovamente acqua: mi dicono che non è possibile usufruire del bagno perchè bisogna consumare al tavolo e le tubature sono molto vecchie e la gente sporca troppo il bagno. Oltre al fatto che è una pratica illegale questa, dare per scontato che un uomo non sporchi il bagno perchè se fa la pipì non usa la carta è assolutamente denigrante, considerando che non sapete nemmeno cosa una persona deve fare in bagno. Camerieri molto maleducati e incapaci all'ascolto. Posto assolutamente da evitare, oltre al fatto di essere caro, considerando che siete sempre a Bari non a Milano, ed è inutile che parlate di "policy aziendale" per un baretto scarso da 20 o 30 coperti la cui unica particolarità è :1) essere nella piazza principale 2)avere uno spiccato senso nell'assumere ragazzi molto maleducati e altezzosi,...
