Glad we stopped here for lunch. Everything was fantastic. We ordered a set lunch menu and margherita pizza. FOOD: this was the best margherita pizza I had in Italy. Ingredients were fresh and fantastic. Cheese was tasty and cheesy. Tomato sauce was light but flavorful. Dough was perfect: no burnt spots and sweet to each bite. The set menu included water, wine, pasta, and meat. Rosso Tasso (red muscat) complimented the meal perfectly. Gnocchi was excellent and we ordered a rabbit dish, which was grilled perfectly. Another surprise was the polenta. Normally we don't like polenta, but this was different. There was taste to each bite and texture was more like mashed potato. SERVICE: friendly staff and quick service. Our server was patient with us and explained each dish. He also took time to tell us about the restaurant and specialities. LOCATION: very easy to find. On the main road in the old town. PRICE: set menu was €15. Pizza was €10 but had €3 cuperto. Overall, excellent choice for lunch if you are in Bergamo. Well deserved 5 stars.

Perché certi atteggiamenti cheap dicono tante cose. P.S.

I recently visited Da Mimmo Bergamo Alta in Bergamo, and I want to say many good things about this delightful restaurant! From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The menu is filled with delicious options, everything was delicious :) The staff Michele and Riccardo were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that my dining experience was top-notch. Also manager Enzo was super professional and knew how to make us feel home. It’s clear that they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in serving high-quality food. If you're in Bergamo and craving some mouthwatering Italian cuisine, Forno Mimmo is a must-visit! I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Grazie mille, Forno Mimmo!

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

We’ll list all points that were very unprofessional and unfair to customers.

We picked this restaurant based on the menu they advertised at the entrence, which was only pizza - the one thing we actually wanted so it was okay. Then when we sat down and they brought the menu there was no pizza to be found. We were confused and when the waiter came to take our order we asked if they actually serve pizza. They only then brought the pizza menu which was on an individual paper.

We ordered our pizza. Regina - the one we picked was supposed to have fresh basil on it - the main reason why I picked this pizza. I am lactose intolerant- that’s why I asked if it is possible to do half of the pizza without cheese. They simply answered “no” so I said that it is OK.

When our pizzas came, I realised how easy it would be to actually bring it without the cheese - because there were in total 5 small peaces of buffalo mozzarella. I could just picked them with the fork and have half without cheese. The whole pizza was super plain and tasteless. 1/3 of pizza was the crust (very thick and hard to chew and cut.)

The next shocking part was the fresh basil - or in better words - NO BASIL.

While we tried to ate our horrible pizzas with the dullest knives, lady next to us returned tomato soup while saying “this is not what I order”.

When we were finally ready to leave, they couldn’t even bring us the check, we had to walk up to the bar where we were waiting for 5 minutes because there was only one waiter that knew how to work with the cash desk and terminal. This was quite challenging because we were travelling and had bags and suitcases with us.

When we got the paying part, somehow it was 8 euros more than we were supposed to pay. We didn’t confront them about it, we just wanted to leave already. Then we realised that we paid 8€ more for 6 slices of brad that they brought as an appetiser - WHICH WE NEVER ORDERED. (there were four of us so they brought 2 packages of brad - normally it would be only 3 slices for 4€)

While we were leaving, we were discussing what was actually the difference between Regina and Margarita because we felt that they really brought us Margarita. We once again looked at the menu at the entrence - where we realised the only difference is that on Regina there was Buffalo mozzarella while on normal Margarita was cow mozzarella. While on both there was supposed to be the fresh basil which didn’t happen in our case. This made 3€ difference between the pizzas.

(9. This point is probably not important for everyone - but even though we sat outside, on the terrace - it is forbidden to smoke there.)

Very bad experience, never...

It was amazing I made a telephone call around 4 pm. For a reservation for 6. Which I recommend you do. We arrived a little before our reservation time. This was no problem because we made it right as the restaurant opened. We had a reservation for the garden. They had terrasheaters so we had no trouble with a cooler evening. As we where seated they gave us a welcome drink our waitress was quick to understand we didn't speak any Italian. So she welcomed us in English and provided us with an English menu. A nice touch was that the change the main course each day. We wanted a main course and two pizzas for the table. She was quick to suggest that we ordered our pizzas as starters. It was a nice atmosphere in our section they played smooth jazz CD. Soon after they brought in the pizzas. We had all vegetable pizzas. They where great. You could tell they put real fresh ingredients on it. As soon as we finished our starter the restaurant quickly filled. So we where glad we came a little early but also that we made a reservation. The main course was again amazing. The products used again so fresh. To round it off we had a great night. The staff where outstanding. I really recommend this restaurant like so many others. Because we where in a hurry to catch the last train back to Lecco we had an short evening. But we would have loved to stay longer....

We were here two times, second time as two families. We asked about table for 4 adults and 3 kids, they placed us next to table with older people. We received menus and wait for 20 minutes to make an order (there was not many people that time) even if we let waitress know that we are ready to make order 3 times. Unfortunately people around us had higher priority even if some of them went after us. We were treated as unwelcome guests. Our children sometimes were laughing but we were saying to be more quiet and if they started be nervous we were taking them outside to calm down. Some manager said that we are too loud and other tables started to complain. So if this place is not for families with children that behaves normally (we are not allowing our kids to disturb others, run next to tables etc.) why they placed us there? They have other floors and rooms as I have seen. Leaving place we said that we were treat terrible, the worst in all Bergamo and manager or owner even didn't said sorry but was attacking by words. So if you want to be treat as normal people ommit this place. We are really sad because it was our last dinner in Bergamo before our departure so we are leaving this city with...
