Carmen Gelato - Colleoni — Restaurant in Bergamo

Bergamo is a lovely city but we had the worst experience at this store. Last Sunday (30/10/2022) we went with 3 friends to get ice cream at 18:50 (the store closes at 19:30). Once we got in there, we saw 2 employees who were fighting for who will come to get our order (because none of them really bothered to move). Once the girl came to us, she was very rude and short when she was talking to us, she seemed very annoyed for no reason even though we were very polite to her. We were used of people being very nice to us in Bergamo throughout our stay. We asked her about the flavors and she didn’t bother to tell us she just pointed on the wall were the flavors were. When my friend asked her to see the ice cream (because they were closed with a lid) she started opening and closing the lids very aggressively for no reason and being very rude. Then we decided to leave and said “okay sorry we are leaving because this is very awkward”.

Writing this review hoping no one will experience again such a behavior from someone in this store. As someone who has worked 14 years in hospitality I found it very disrespectful.

We went to this ice-cream shop because our guide advised us so. Worst decision ever. We were waiting patiently, after greeting the server in our poor Italian, we were ignored. Then we saw somebody asking who got served straight away, we asked and we were neglected with a "one moment"....nevertheles, somebody did ask again and got served without a single look to us. Kids loved the gelato here. Modest and quiet little spot along the main drag of restaurants in Citta Alta. Had some indoor seating in the back. They also had some pastries, coffee, a variety of soft drinks, etc. The service was pleasant but I assume during the summer that this is a bit hard to navigate as there isn’t a whole lot of space at the counter where you place your order.
