I recently visited Taverna Valtellinese and had an awful experience. First off, the waiter treated us with a terrible attitude because we didn't speak Italian. He spoke to us in such broken English that we couldn't even understand the menu. It was a frustrating experience and made us feel unwelcome.
To make matters worse, we waited for about 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. By the time our food came, we were already annoyed and hungry. We order the risotto with zucchini flower, but actually it has no taste at all. Another dish is the ravioli, the paste tasted so bad. I don't want to take any photos because they taste so bad and we were getting angry for such a long waiting time. The food itself wasn't even worth the wait. It was mediocre at best, and definitely not worth the price.
When it came time to pay the bill, we asked to pay separately for each person's dish. However, the receptionist flat-out refused and insisted that we pay evenly. It was clear that she didn't want to deal with the hassle of splitting the bill. This was an incredibly rude and inconvenient experience that left us feeling frustrated and disrespected.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was terrible, the food was subpar, and the receptionist was downright disrespectful. Save yourself the trouble and go...
Read moreThe most importantly, food is delicious, prepared with care and thought. The tartare was smooth and fresh, although presentation was giving me communist vibes. Casoncelli alla Bergamasca was divine, but be aware of the amount of butter used. Unfortunately didn’t see any lombardian desert on the menu so I went with apple strudel and it was on point! Even gelato was a proper Italian style!
Now service: got a little thrown off guard by a tall, mature waiter at the door when I said I arrived to dine alone. He said it wasn’t possible. I explained I booked a table for 2, because website didn’t allow to book for 1. He wasn’t happy about it and while offering me a table he asked me to delete reservation on fork.it. There should be an option for people to eat alone, so that’s an area of improvement.
Otherwise the young man serving me wine was very approachable and had great knowledge of the menu. The lady who served food was also...
Read moreA traditional place that might give you the impression of a lodge, with very good local specialties. The off the menu Tagliatelle with black truffles are just amazing! A pleasant surprise was the possibility to have a glass of premium wine without having to buy a whole bottle; this is due to the "easy wine technology" that helps preserve the wine in ideal conditions for more days from opening. If you want a desert but not something very sweet, I recommend the Minestrone of fruit (it has a longer name that I don't remember :P). It'sbasically a fruit salad but on a bed of Sharon (Persommon/ Kaki) fruit peurree. Much tastier than expected and just the right amount if sweetness :)
The service was good and prompt sprinkled with some humour :) It's a oretty popular place among locals and turists, sso it's better to reserve ahead (you can do it even via...
