Ristorante Osteria Alle Due Porte — Restaurant in Bologna

I'd travel back just to enjoy this restaurant again!! It all looked so good that I had a tough time to choose. I decided on the fresh made pasta with lamb ragu and grilled veggies. Perfection! The pasta was steaming hot and cooked perfectly. The bit of bite was perfect with the lamb ragu. It was so very good! My wonderful server brought out olive oil and fresh Parmigiano which I added to my veggies (and heaps of fresh cracked pepper) and that was a perfect dip for the bread. The tables around me had the orecchiette with greens, bolognese ragu, grilled octopus, the beef with arugula and Parm and a few other dishes. They were all Italian but from the gestures and sounds... we all enjoyed our meals equally lol. The service is impeccable. Each and every person there was great. I've traveled to Italy so many times and this is hands down one of my fav experiences. The restaurant is located in a beautifully quirky old area. It is the quintessential Italian foodie experience!! Can't recommend this restaurant enough!...

We went out of our way to come to this restaurant and to put it lightly were incredibly disappointed. It was in truth the worst meal we had this trip to italy. It's more of a tourist trap and the food reflects that. The orechetti dish with "meat sauce" was sauce straight from a jar with a dollop of meat sauce. I feel like they didn't actually have the ingredients for it so made something up- I would have rather they told us that, I would have happily changed my choice. My husband did not enjoy the meat platter either. If you're looking for a great dinner in Bologna- this is not the place. I don't write bad reviews but this was needed so people's expectations are adjusted. Don't go out...

Great local spot – not a tourist trap

Osteria Alle Due Porte served really good food at fair prices, and the house wine was great too. Desserts were also enjoyable, and the service was super friendly and welcoming.

Even though the menu was in English – which can sometimes be a sign of a touristy place – the osteria was full of locals, and the atmosphere felt authentic. Nothing felt gimmicky or watered down.
