Ok. This review kind of pains me a bit… I came out of the restaurant thinking: ‘food was good. Why did they have to be so rude?… it would’ve been a rather pleasant experience if it wasn’t because of the customer service’
The guy at the front desk, probably the owner, in his late 50s? Not sure… was unnecessary rude and unpleasant at our arrival. He was clearly stressed out due to the amount of people in the restaurant which led him to take out his feelings on us by telling us off for having arrived, literally, a couple of minutes late. Not even 10, not even 15! … then the old lady serving or organising the tables was in such a bad mood.. seriously! If you all do not know how to work under stress do not take more reservations than you can handle. Once seated, she had to tell my partner off because he crossed his legs and his shoe was (by a few mms) on her way… do not sit people in a busy area if we then have to be all tensed up thinking we have to be constantly careful that our arms, foot or legs may be on their way… our waiter, a young girl with long hair, was actually quite pleasant. She was under a lot of stress but clearly manages better than the other two ones. Last but not least, please do get rid of the single Parmesan sachets… such a waste… you can either put it directly yourselves on the pasta or come around later and spread some over.
Again, I’d like to reiterate that food was good. None of the dishes disappointed. We had salami and fried bread, tagliatelle alla bolognese (too much meat… after finishing the pasta meat was left on the dish) and the steak alla bolognese.
I really hope that whoever goes to the restaurant get a better treatment and do not feel under stress during their time in there as food is actually quite...
Read moreMid at best. As a European one can tell that restaurant clearly caters to the unknowing American tourists (my dear Americans, you can find better food out here in this city). Service was rude and unprofessional - I understand Italian and I could listen to two of the service staff (two females) snickering about an American couple at another table. Service was careless and made you feel unwelcome, which killed the overall atmosphere. Restaurant lacks a soul in general. Finally, the food came at record speed and was nothing special. Pasta is of a quality like when you make it at home and deserts seem like that they are industrial produce. After a glance in the kitchen when you pay, you can see trays of precooked pasta lying around and chefs with zero excitement on their faces. Too bad really as the world loves Italy for its passion for food and charming attitude - all of which this...
Read moreA very fine dining experience, I can not find a thing wedding with it with the exception of the slightly chaotic matter if the diners. The food is textbook "all that is good about Bologna" and it is obvious the chef truly cares without too much pomp. I enjoyed a tortellini in the red sauce which was cooked on part with any tortellini I have ever had... I strongly suggest. The torteloni my companions ate would have been better would it have been slightly a dente.... but that is perhaps my preference.
If you catch it on off season on a rainy night when people start in, or of the screaming of children is music to your ears ( and certainly did some it is) then you have a solid 5 star meal. Certainly fire those if ya that are not fans of children's screams, choose an off night. While the children who were with us were week behaved.... other children may not be as calm and...
