We are so lucky we wandered into this enoteca on our first night in Bolzano. This is one of those special places you think about for years after—not just because of the wine (and cheese!) but because of the people. Arianna and Graham are warm, thoughtful, and intentional humans whose values show in the place they have built.
Their intentionality shines in their sourcing. Their list of wines centers the hard-to-find grapes and vintners of Italy, and each wine is delicious and unique. As important, the wine list is not so extensive as to become meaningless. It’s just enough to give you a chance to explore, but not so big as may overwhelm you. Arianna and Graham are so passionate about sharing how they discovered each wine and why they chose it for their enoteca. It is such a generous gift to have them share that so freely with others.
They put flavor above price and work directly with wine makers to sell the bottles. No bottle there costs more than €22 and all glasses of wine are €5. Yet, each glass of wine we had there stood head and shoulders above any other wine we tried on our trip. I don’t know how you build a library that mighty yet varied, but they did it.
Finally (and I know this is a long review): their snacks are as well sourced as their wine. They don’t go to the big wholesale market to get their cheese and prosciutto. Again, they are working directly with the makers and it shows. Easily the best cheese of our trip as well as the best wine. Oh! And don’t skip that housemade marinated eggplant. Holy cow.
We were in Bolzano three nights and we came here each night. We met interesting and kind people, and we drank fantastic wine and ate incredible food. This is the kind of place you may stumble upon only a handful of times in your life—don’t miss it. So...
Read moreIf you look for a way to taste various Italian wines for a reasonable price, look no further. I was on my last day in Bolzano and just wanted to have a quick snack for lunch. I saw that this little bar sold what the Italians call panini, so I entered. I decided to have a glass of vine accompanying my lunch. The owner could have sold me any wine, for I have no idea which wine tastes how. Instead, he really made sure I liked my choice and offered me a variety of wines to taste beforehand. I really enjoyed the time I spent here as the food and whines (I ended up drinking 2 glasses) were great, and I would definitely visit this place a second time, if I was...
